One Touch Blink Signal

Hey

I learned at my dealership that they could not turn on the one touch/three blink indicators because its not available in ANY Z4. It's a huge inconvenience for me since I really got used to it. Anyone knows a way around it? Some retrofit perhaps?

And one more thing. When I had my loaners 09 528i and 09 x5 3.0si, I realized that whenever u turn the wheel during standstill you can clearly see Adaptive Xenons rotate towards the corner. However I could not see that in my 05 Z4. Does that mean Z4's don't have Adaptive Headlights?

06-08 model year (corrected from "All" based on info from GP20) Z4s have the option to enable the one-press=three-flash. (Although I wish it did four instead of three...I drive fast but change lanes slowly )

Z4s only adjust the lamps vertically. They do not move horizontally with steering changes.

Even the new ones with "dual xenons"? (sorry, that's how I call the new ones with two lenses instead of one ) Well then I will have to go and see a different dealer.

Only facelifted Z4's have that feature. Can't be enabled on '03~'05 Z4's.

I stand corrected, then. Thanks for the additional info!

What model year is your Z4? Your sig says '06 and you mentioned '05 in your post. And space gray didn't become available until '08. The one-touch turn signal feature can only be enabled on '06~'08 Z4's.

05, I will correct that in a second. I will take the picture of the color tomorrow morning. Do you guys know any way around it maybe?

If it's an '05, it's Sterling Gray (has a bit of a red undertone to it). In '06-07 it was changed to Silver Gray, which is what I have. Then in '08 it became Space Gray.

As for the lights, you can double check with your dealer but likely the other guys are correct and it's not an option on your model year.

It should be available on your 06, though many of the dealers don't know it and/or they don't bother looking for it when they do the setup.

Since I had heard of the feature on one of these boards (and it's listed in the owners manual,) I asked mine to do it when I first got my 07 and was having the DRLs initiated and they told me the same line you were getting - not available on E85/6s. I read more about it on these boards - somewhere there is a FAQ that has the setup table of all the available defaults and settings (check bimmerfest and bimmerforums as well, it's in there somewhere) - and hit them up for it again when I took it in for its annual oil change and they had no problem doing it this time.

I had my Z4MR programmed at the dealership. It's a one-time free service where you bought the car, otherwise the dealership can charge you. BTW, I also had them enable the daytime running lights, which on the Z4 is so dim that it's barely noticeable.

so did you just ask your service advisor if they could program the 'One Touch Blink Signal' function to your car? and that was it?

See here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=12 as to the available options. Although, as stated earlier, some options may only be available on later models.

Also keep in mind that if the dealer is wanting to charge you an arm and a leg to perform this, you can always go to a private BMW shop who will be much cheaper. Since the e85/e86 use the "older" computer, most private shops will have a terminal that will be able to program it.

First took my car to a dealer that was closer to home to have 1200 mile service performed. While there, I asked if they could program. SA said they could, but because I did not purchase car there they would have to charge me. Went on to explain that it's a one-time freebie where you purchase the car. Following week I took it to the dealer where I bought it, asked SA they could program, and he said sure. SA confirmed the one-time freebie policy.
