I'm guessing it is CF wrapped. I don't think CF is conductive enough for the entire rod to be CF and be of much use.

I removed my antenna altogether, and it has not affected FM reception. AM reception is down to 1 station. I saw a shorty CF antenna on ebay, but I've decided that it looks to ricey and cheap

CF on such a small accessory won't even be noticeable unless you're 2" away. Save the few bucks a get a regular stubby.

I bought the OEM stubby one and like it alot. I used to have one of the eBay ones but the metal tends to pit over time. The OEM has a rubbery texture which seems more durable.

I ordered the "I-series" in black from these guys:

http://www.stubbyantenna.com/

$12.99 including shipping....... well made and a perfect fit (and no discernable loss of FM reception)

Does it matter if you have bluetooth option in the car? Or is that a separate antenna all together?

You'll need to use Velcro so that you can still lower the top.
