Remote Radar Install

I got tired of the things stuck to the window and now all that is there is the laser sensor up beside the mirror. The actual radar detector is behind the front grill and I probably lose some sensitivity cause its low on the car but it is hard to see (pic with and without flash) and anyone outside or beside the car can't see the unit between the sunglass holder and the interior light .

The power and ground wires are already up there and all you have to do is cut the roof liner per the template and run the wire from the sensor behind your grill up through the firewall and inside the front A pillar cover and across the roof - power up and away . This unit turns itself off if there are radar detector detectors out there as well. no wires across the window - nothin in the cigarette lighter - comes on when I start the car

which model is that? nice install... are you worried about rear protection?

i considered the remote install but unless you actually have a remote radar like yours or the 9500ci, i didn't see a point since for something like the v1, it's not like the radar itself is unseen (only the display goes black but the unit is still within plain sight). plus most who go that route put the remote display somewhere that requires you to take your eyes off the road. i did consider mounting the v1 on my rear hatch (windows are tinted) so in that sense it'd be unseen but the wiring would be such a hassle...

on my next car, i'll try this with the new bel sti-r plus...

Whistler PRO-3450 Remote Mounted Radar Detector

This model provides 360 degree detection of all types of laser guns. There is a sensor about 2 inches high next to the mirror and you can also mount a second one !

yeah nice - but

Very nice - however if they find it where I am they take it out of the car - $1500 vs 230 - not that I would want to lose any but
