Any known S65 swaps?

Hi,

I own an E86 3.0 and think about swapping a S65 Motor into the coupé.
Since you guys are often faster with those things, I wondered if you know about any completed swaps.

Electricity should not be an issue, a friend of mine says he is able to take care of that.
I'm concerned on how the gearbox fits in, the motor is supposed to fit in with the original mounts

Any information is appreciated.

Regards from Germany!

Haha, no. This is going to be a Nordschleife Tracktrool, the S65 will have more than enough power for that.
The other thing is that here in Europe the S85 only came with SMG and I definitely want a manual.

DCT trans will fit E85 and 6 speed trans from E92 M3 will also fit S85 so find an E92 M3 trans for an S85

E92 M3 Trans is the GS6-53BZ, while our Z4/Z4M 6 speed is the GS6-37BZ. My understanding is that only speculation exists regarding the differences, although I've seen literature on the "3" vs "5" meaning more torque handling capability of the trans (how much, who knows).

I considered going to 53BZ from my 37BZ for fear of breaking things with my current power output, but from realOEM, I don't think the 53 can swap over to an N52.

Any data on what the 53BZ has been capable of handling power wise thus far? It does seem like it can fit in our tunnel (any proof of anyone installing one of those successfully ?)

It will fit in the tunnel. The DCT trans is actually a little too big resulting in less than efficient fitment, but it still fits. Manual trans will fit perfectly because the tunnel is the same dimensions as the E46 M3 tunnel that has taken multiple 6 speed trans.

The trans wont fit to any motor except the S85 and the S65 without an adapter.

The trans will hold as much power as you can throw at it probably up to 1000 HP. You just need a clutch and flywheel.

Any other questions? Ask away
