My Car Weighs Less than 3000lbs
Well sorta, 3023lbs to be exact but this was after I had a rollbar installed which was probably 80-90 pounds of material so means I was closer to around 2930. This is with a near empty gas tank without driver.
Only signifiacant weight reduction was replacing factory M-sport heated seats with Recaro PP's and associated hardware, aftermarket exhaust and lightweight rims (18" Volks ~ 18lbs, 17" TRM < 17lbs). I still have factory trim in place and my car has oe navi system. From what I gathered online, stock 3.0si coupe weighs in at 3100lbs, fully loaded probably closer to 3150lbs. Initial reading prior to any adjustment Last edited by 3002 tii; 01-30-2014 at 08:24 AM.. |

It does make a big difference. With your engine mods, what do you calculate your power:weight ratio to be?

Haven't dyno'd but I know stock 6MT dynos at 220-225whp. I'm sure the tune and exhaust add maybe 10hp to wheel max.

On topic of batteries, I stick with oem replacement from Autozone. Don't drive car enough to use a lightweight battery.

If you want a lightweight battery, Deka makes all of the lightweight batteries sold under other names, including the popular Braille batteries. They have one thats 7 lbs if you live in a warm climate, otherwise theres a 12-14 lb one that still provides cranking amps in the cold.
Most of the cost seems to be in the mount. But if you have access to sheet metal fab equipment, that pretty goes to zero. |
