Not sure, maybe OP is no longer interested? I hope that's not the case, I really would love to see a solution as described, and would pay good money to get one...

Is it possible to get any more photos of your setup? I'm curious to see how the adjustable piece works and how far it goes over the muffler. I was thinking about ordering a new X pipe to do this to in order to retain the stock one should I need to put it back on for any reason.

Dont have any pic at this moment, but the adjustable piece at the top is pretty short, about 4-5". The silver piece in the picture is the connector for the end cap and the J-pipe. And that piece is about 4" wide, so it gives me about 3" room for adjustment.
