I simply cut my stock unit down to 3 inches and it looks fine. I've suffered no change in reception.

lol you took some wire cutters to your antenna? That's awesome. Did you put some tape or anything over top to keep the wire dry?

Almost lost my stubby at the dealership, they washed the car and forgot to put it back, good thing I noticed, I would have not liked to go back to the OEM look

I got my 3" stubby and it seems to me that my FM reception is suffering. Is this possible or am I just noticing the poor reception because I'm now paying attention??

Only way to find out for yourself is to swap back the stock antenna and compare the differences.

I believe it was mentioned before that the FM radio transmitter/antenna is actually located somewhere in the rear bumper and the external antenna is actually for AM frequencies. Anyone confirm?

Honda S2000 works

While at a local Honda dealer yesterday putting finger prints all over a new blue S2000 CR I tried the S2000 seven inch flexible antenna mast and it not only fits perfectly but it also works well with both AM and HD FM.
P/N 39151-S2H-E01 sells for $17.95 plus shipping.

new antenna

I have 2 of the short (4 inch) antenna on sale. bring me some good offer.

I took back a used z4m with it and, because I mostly listen to AM, the reception was bad. I put back the oem antenna and, AM is perfect.

I also have a 2nd 4 inch (never open- bimmian) on sale.

send request to

dan-lauz@sympatico.ca

thanks

KenTemm,

Antennas are designed for particular frequencies/wavelenghts. AM in the KHz (thousands of cycles per second), FM (88 to 108 MHz millions of cycle per sec), Cellular/PCS (800 and 1900 MHz). Frequency and wavelength depend one on each other: the higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength (or antenna lenght)

So, without getting into antenna designs and gains, typically the shorter the antenna, the higher the frequency. So with the stubbies you may not notice a difference with FM which is much higher freqency than AM. That would partially explain it.

I got mine at EAS 'cause they offer a rubberized version that looks much more OEM than the black aluminum versions.

Just to add some feedback to what I got.

I ordered this one off ebay, it came nicely packed, with multiple screws to fit base of all sizes, one of them fits the Z4 perfectly, the base of the antenna sits flush with our antenna base, looking very natural.

I'm very happy with it, looks and feels great. On a side note though, the base of the Z4 antenna is plastic, where this antenna is made out of metal (painted black), so the antenna does reflect light slightly differently then the base of the antenna.

Anyone go with the 6" version of the stubby from EAS? Or is the 3" good enough?

I just got mine, a 3" stubby, and the AM reception got quite a bit worse, and the FM just on some frequencies. However, i think it looks great comapring to that definitely too long oem antenna.
And additionally it's a little gift that your car deserves every once and then.

I noticed a slight change in reception with mine but it is definitely worth it to me. I don't listen to the radio very often anyway and it looks 100% better

dude i came out to my car the other day and my bimmian antenna was snapped off. I coldnt even find it. I guess either someone deliberately whacked it off or by accident. either way no other damage was done to the car.

the worst part is the antenna snapped off so the stem is still nugged in there. any ideas on how to get it out
