I have a question for everyone, I have a 2005 BMW Z4 2.5i. About 2 months ago my car started to give problems. When I push the brake the engine would rev up sometimes to the point at a stop I have to put it in park. When I let the brake off it almost dies. The car is an automatic not a stick. Not that I beat my car but when you put the car in drive hit the brake and than hit the gas it does nothing and I mean nothing it`s like the gas pedal is not hooked to anything. I drive this car every day over 100miles I really need to fix it can anyone please point me in the right place...... It is showing codes but from my research some codes could mean a lot of things....... HELP

PS I do all the work on my car so if someone could please help.......

The codes I get are po174,po171,po102,po1447
I cleared all the codes today waiting until tomorrow to see if they come back but the problem with the car is still there.......
I rebuilt vanos over the weekend power better problem still there....

It may sound silly, but are you sure the floor mat isn't somehow hooking or depressing the gas when you hit the brake?

If thats not it...post the codes. That's a start.

No you don`t understand the engine does not rev at all as I let the brake off it will take off like it`s a switch at a point on the brake pedal to tell the gas pedal to work.

Not a mechanic but sounds like a vacuum problem. My guess would be that you have a leak in the air intake or in a vacuum hose somewhere... Sorry I can't be of more help...

P0174-oxygen sens lean bank 2.
P0171- system 2 lean bank 1
P0102- mass air fliw sensor/low input sensor.
p01447- evap. code.

Check vacuum leak while car is running by spraying carb/throttle body cleaner around throttle body/intake manifold.

Possibly a vacuum leak in your brake booster. Try pinching off the vacuum tube to your brake booster.
