Widest Tires on Stock 18" 325M E89 Wheels
Very sorry if I missed this info. Tried searching for a bit on the forum but no luck.
My question is: What the widest tires sizes will fit on the stock wheels without rubbing on M Sport suspension. Looking to replace my stock RFT tires for something more sporty and AX-appropriate. The stock sizes are 225/40-18 in the Front & 255/35-18 The wheels are 8" in the front and 8.5" in the rear I believe. Thanks in advance! |

Typically you don't want to go wider than a 245 width tire on an 8" wheel, and 255 on a 8.5" wheel. Any wider and you hurt performance due to the tire bowing out and reducing contact patch. I'm sure there are other negatives too. Finnegan has experience with this.

On a stock M Coupe I'm running 275's on the rear and 245's on the front with no issues at all. When I bought it that's how it was and that's how I kept it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm thinking I'll go one size wider on the front and back for now to be safe. Or maybe I'll go to 235 in the front and stick at 255 in the back.
