How bad is the droning? Is it pretty loud at low RPMs? I don't want to wake up my neighbours as I creep up my driveway lol.

I live in the burbs and I can drive around 25 to 30 mph (i.e. 3000 rpm and lower) without people sitting out on their porches necessarily lifting their heads as I go by. The car is not noisey at all at idle or when driving up my driveway into the garage. If you open the car up however it's almost up to full on race car levels of noise and exhaust music i.e. bloody fantastic. At 3000 rpm on the highway with the windows up the drone is louder than I would like but as the car is not used for longer trips it's not really a major issue for me.

The managers at the Ferrari dealership complained that not only was the Tubi on the M3 too quiet but it had a rather flat tinney sound quality. Listening to several vids of the other exhausts currently available for our cars, many seemed to also be a little tinney. Although better looking, hardly worth buying sound wise compared to stock. The RPI exhaust gives rich smooth tones with lots of harmonics through the rev range and then it's just plain racecar at the top end. There were of course several Ferraris (mostly 430s) in the shop while my car was being worked on and several had aftermarket exhausts that sounded louder than the RPI when the cars were being driven around at low speeds. I wanted an exhaust that would also reveal the exotic nature of the S54 and I reckon I can now give the ferrari guys a run for their money sound wise.

Yes there is drone on the highway but the car sounds fantastic when you put your foor down. I'll try and take some video later today.
imho the drone is not bad at all, been using it for several weeks, to make it short it simply sound amazing, your neighbors might even go outside just to see you park j/k...

Fit is goooood

She used to pure and now she growls.

First impression:
At idle the the sound is a low rumble. Exhaust really wakes up upon exceleration. The sound is very loud and will turn heads weather you like it or not. The only cabin drone I have experienced is during downshist or quick accel. arround 3K RPM. At Freeway speeds the exhaust is tame. As stated above, huge weight reduction. Overall fittment is great and exhaust looks really good in person.

Thanks for the feedback. Now you guys know why it took me soooo long to finish this exhaust? The straight 6 is a hard engine to make sound good. It has a very naturally raspy sound that is hard to dampen without a loss of performance.

Exhaust Installer recommendations, 4 my Z4 M. in the NYC / Westchester area.

I would really appreciate any advice you can give regarding getting my new RPI exhaust that I need installed on my 2007 BMW Z4 M coupe. I live in Westchester, (Tarrytown) 10706 Zip. Any recommendations through experience
- Can I just take it to a mavis / mineke and get installed.

Thank you

kmrbmw, The installation is very simple and can be done by any muffler shop. There are only 4 bolts on each side. It only took me about 5 minutes to remove each unit. It should take no longer to put back on (mine are to be delivered this afternoon). I'm going to take some pictures of the installation this afternoon... Chuck I

I think "Chuck I" is doing the install himself so he might not be able to provide a price. It shouldn't cost more than $80 though, I am thinking $60-$80 is fair

Had a little package in the garage when I got home at 4:45 today. Did not even come in the house, loaded it up and headed straight to the muffler shop down the road. They were suppose to close in 5 minutes. Looked at the car, I showed them the mufflers, they said "No problem". 15 minutes $20 later all was done.
I took the long way home and have to say....I love it! It is definately not for the timid. I had no problems listening to the stereo with the windows up, for the 30 seconds I tried it. The rest of the time was spent listening to the exhaust sing to me, and everyone else in a 250 meter radius.
