Before I got the SS x-pipe, I used to use an adapter to bolt the SS race mufflers to the OE x-pipe.
The adapter goes in the inlet portion of the muffler canisters, and has a flange on it. Once I got the SS x-pipe however, I knocked out the adapters, and just slid the x-pipe and muffler cans together. I'm willing to bet that the adapters could be put to use in the outlet portion of an SS x-pipe? Then you could mate up a flange-styled muffler can to it. In any case, I now have almost a full SS setup (sans the headers, which are JVTs; SS copies). |

IIRC, they make it too long & different diameter. If you have to have SS, the method posted by johanness is the best way. I have had both the SS and the R.Eng X-pipes on my cars. IMO the R.Eng makes the most sense especially if you want to DIY.

Thank you for all your tips, I'll now try to get the RE imported to France and will fallback on the flanged SS if either not possible or too expensive...At least there are solutions !!!

If the SS is available locally, it might be less expensive to modify that one. Shipping the R.Eng overseas might get expensive.

So, the X-Pipe has been mounted today...great sound, especially in high revs and perfect fitting on the G-Powers (tuned Eisenmann's).
By the way I also replaced the CDV with Zeckhausen's one and the feeling of the clutch is now more the way I expect it, but I still need to drive more to really appreciate its differences. Thank to all of you for your precious advices. My next mods will be a set of coilovers (either KW Clubsport or Nitron NTR Sport+) and later on some APEX ARC-8 wheels fitted with Pilot Super Sport to enable fitment of a BBK (either Brembo or StopTech), but I still need to figure out some details on these mods. |
