Lowere at max bottom in the back and 2 threads above max bottom in the front. 15 minute drive to work was about 50% stiffer than before but not jarring. Im rubbing something on big bumps. I think tire against inner area fender liner.

Took lots of install pics. Trunk trim is a bitch. Car stance is perfect. About 1 finger gap all around
well done tom!!!

how was the rear trim removal?? did you do this on the driveway or in garage??

any tips for me as im going to be doing this soon, was waiting for a really warm day, start @ 7am and hopefully be done by 5pm :-) will be doing this in my driveway :-) on my ass, alone!! lol

from what ive seen this is a very straight forward install imo!!

I did it in my garage, I have about a meter of work space on each side. After driving it a bit more on rough roads, I'd say its considerably stiffer than H&R springs and 50k mile oem shocks. I MIGHT raise it just a little bit if I get sick of the ride quality.

The trim in the trunk is a bit tough, but mostly straightforward. I had to remove the whole rear parcel shelf, and the apparatus that moves it up and down (toughest part). I also removed all the carpet except the back piece. I took pics of all or most of the things that are holding the trim together for you and others here. I also weighed the trim pieces.

The H&R front springs and shock is about 1lbs lighter than stock.

I'm at work, so I don't have time to upload all the pics.

oh, and I made a video of my installing the rear spring with just my left hand and one foot, holding the phone with the other hand. Like a boss...

your getting way to handy at this DIY!!! well done man, car looks sick!! i'll be running my Clubsports as close to stock ride-height as possible, suspension travel is key to compliance.... i also am not a fan of the slammed look, i wan to be able to drive my car HARD on a bumpy road and not scrape anywhere on the floor.

I gained a lot of car repair confidence helping out with the supercharger install. Told myself that everything else MUST be easier. hahahah

Plus, I love buying cool new tools with the money saved on paying someone else to do it. You can drop the car half way, and ride comfort will not be affected much. Especially since its your WEEKEND car. come on bro... don't be a nancy man. hahahaha

I wish the shocks were adjustable, but I can always upgrade after running out of things to do and feel like spending an additional $2k for that little extra fine tuning (NOT ANYTIME SOON )

dont worrryyyy i gott this maaaayynnn.... im all over this asap, just need a to see when my mom can have my son for the night before and that day then its ON.....plus the weather over here right now is horrible, ive had the s/c kit in pieces and stripped numerous engines down, suspension is easy BUt.... its always more difficult on your pride and joy.... the AP BBK was a complete bitch but again like you i love adding to the tool collection and getting stuck in and having a go..... ive done 80% of the bits on this car myself.....

my reasoning is, if i install i can spend the extra on getting it set-up properly....

ohhhhh yeah...... exactly what im after!!!! all the bits are here, all the front reinforcement plates, the clubsports are here, Re mounts, im Ready for it, infact my car with the performance / braking i feel it needs to be tied down with a hardcore suspension setup, with the height im planning, i think i can get alittle more compliance out of them :-)

The only reason ive held out so long is the tiny mileage my stock units have seen, so i just wanted alittle more use out of the stock items, but after 20 plus track runs, i really feel its just WAYYYY to soft for me now, even though i love its actual nature, i realy like the stock units imo.....

really excited about the Clubsports.............

Good luck. Its tough to get "compliance" out of a race intended suspension setup, no matter what the ride height

Ok, here are most of the things that are keeping the trunk trim together.

The removal order was:

trunk floor carpet
tail light covers
plastic trim panel between tail lights
trunk tray piece that goes up and down (clips in)
The two things that have hinges that make the trunk tray go up and down, do not remove the handles from them
side trunk carpets
and peeled back the insulation (tore it).

I think that was it.

Here are some weights and install pics I took along the way. Scale shows in pounds, and then ounces after that. Last pic is from my last autocross

current ride height. more artistic than really telling. Originally I had the rear seat at max bottom, and front at 2 threads above bottom. It rode too rough, and the rear end lost traction a lot easier because it wasn't transferring the weight properly.

Now (as pictured), I raised it up .25" above max bottom, or .32" of space between the front adjuster ring and the beginning of the threads. The rear was measured to match, but I think its just a little lower. Ride is MUCH better, almost as good as H&R springs w/oem shocks, and rear end grips as well as before too

Thx. Canon T2i with the stock lens. 6 second exposure, 100iso, F4.5. Ran around waving an LED worklight to "paint" it. There is a discussion w/tips in the photography forum

thanks! The headlights and cleaning up the trunk (badge, keyhole, sticker) are next on my to-do list

Unfortunately I scratched up my fangs with the new ride height

Autocross this sunday!

Guys,

Great thread! Indulge me for a minute and bring it back to the basic VT-2 discussion. I have the VT1-445 and would like to add the intercooler kit. I have confirmed with Roman that I have the V3SI supercharger unit to complete the mod and Hans has given me a qoute.

Question: Given that this is a fairly $ upgrade given what may be an additional 30-50HP add (my estimate based on the dynos I have seen), would you recommend the effort with an eye on the $/performance benefit? Everything else under the hood is stock.

Thanks...
