A silly Question
Could someone please tell me what bmw did to the 2.5si to get more power out of the engine that is in the 2.5.

Are you talking about the 2006-2008 2.5i, or 2003-2005 2.5i? I'm assuming the latter, since you say you have a 2005.
The 2006-2008 N52 is a completely different engine than the 2003-2005 M54. Same displacement, different characteristics. A supercharger is your best bet for more power.

I thought he meant what is the difference between the 06-08 2.5si and the 06-08 2.5i? They both have the N52 engine, but the si puts out 40 extra hp. I'm guessing different intake manifold and a tune. I've never heard of the 2.5i or 2.5si from 06-08 though...
