Any members with Delrin shifter bushings?
Has anyone changed the worn out oem rubber shifter bushings for aftermarket solution like Delrin plastic bushings? I am looking to get rid of the slop in the my Z4. I just wanted to know if anyone has done this before on the Z4 chassis. I have seen other bmw chassis forum members have good things to say about them but doesnt seem like any z4 owners have done this. No i dont need any of those aftermarket short shifter kits, I prefer the stock shifter lever.

About to install ECS Tuning delrin shift kit
Bought these a few weeks ago when I ordered both DISA valves, just got the intake back together and drove it today, next project is replacing the A/C compressor, so I'll be under there to install the shift refresh kit anyway... I'll post updates once I get the car off my lift and drive around. It should feel great since I just got my ZHP knob.
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...17367ecs01akt/ I DIY literally everything but laser alignments and I don't feel comfortable compressing springs to do suspension myself... and I don't mount my own tires... New AC kit incl. expansion valve, filter drier and o-rings was a steal at $600 at buyautoparts.com Most of what I buy for my Z4 comes from ECS Tuning except the red hot handmade coil packs from bavauto.com - makes a HUGE difference, highly recommend with NGK plugs and K&N drop-in filter, revs drop fast for quick shifting https://www.bavauto.com/5005-6 |

Nice let us know how the delrin shifter bushings go! Advice and comments are both appreciated! Those are the exact ones i was eyeing a week ago! Ecs is my go to for any parts for my car too! Very fantastic you do all your own work! I also DIY everything too, aswell as most of the forum member are pretty competent to diy and save a $ or two too! I have that bmw starter kit too! Zhp shift knob, k&n filter, ngk iridium spark plugs only thing that differs is that I bought oem bosch coils!

I bought them the same time as I bought the UUC double shear selector rod but I haven't installed either yet.

So over the weekend I installed the delrin front shifter bushing, rear shifter bushing mount, foam shifter attachment, and replaced all the hardware on the shifter. My conclusion is that the shifting is much more direct and firm compared to the old worn hardware/bushings! Would recommend if you want a firmer shifting feel without spending $$$$ for a SSK! Update, recently went to a chassis mounted PSDesigns UK race short shifter with titanium shift knob. The best part is that I didnt have to trim or cut any of the interior shifter surround to fit the shifter assembly! Ouweee! This thing is a dream to row gears in! Super solid and super reassuring the shifter goes into each gear! |

Did you take any photos of the connection to the chassis? Did you change out the shifter rod to the transmission as well?

It shifts/feels good! No didnt take any pictures of the chassis mount with the shifter assembly installed using the provided hardware with blue thread locker and bigger diameter washers. I used the stock oem single shear selector rod.
