Yep this was my car he was running on the highway. I started in thrid and put about 1 1/2 to 2 cars on him by the end of third gear.... Its the higher red line that gave me the advantage because every time he would shift i would gain a fair bit on him. The higher we went up in speed the harder the M coupe pulls on the 335i but I have to admit that the 335i is fu*king fast!! Not to mention that this thing was stock since it was a BMW press car. In reference to the GTO I have also had a run in with a black 6.0 GTO manual. I still pulled on him though... maybe more like inched on him.

Sorry if I came across as unkind. I just did not see why you posted what you posted.

I am always nice to posters I do not know. Then there are posters that have a certain predominant flavor to their posts. I sometimes them to keep them real.

I've read a bunch about it. From everything I've read it goes 0-60 in 4.6 or 0-62 in 4.8. So it should be faster than a GTO for sure, but a tuned 335i will probably be close in a straight line. But remember, the ///M cars give you more than straight line performance, it's all about the track performance. And from what I've read it's close to E46 M3 CSL performance levels. I think the official posted 'ring time was 8:09. That's probably a second or 2 faster than our ///M coupes, for which there are no official ring times.

edmunds states that a stock automatic 335i did a 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Seems a waste of $$ to get an E92 M3 if it will better it by 0.2 sec stock. Tune the 335i and it gets an M3 in a straight line....

Enfield... I Think the E92 ///M3 will still be a superior package. There is more to a performance car than straight line speed. The ///M will be a much more exploitable package, with its limited slip, adaptive suspension and traction control. And the 335 might have more chipped torque, but it will not have the ///M's optional 7 spd DSG which will tear through gears.... And no matter what... that V8 will respond to my slightest prod of the throttle. I dont care who u are, the 335i still has lag, its minimal but its there. And im hesitant to mod the engine and void the warranty as bmw has stated will happen. Plus the overheating issues being seen would severely hurt on track performance. So take your modded , warrarantyless 335i and hold with the E92 ///M in a straight line and then say hello to its tailpipes on the track where it will spank down lap after lap with no complaints from the chassis, limited Slip or N/A engine. It would be ///M all the way with me....
