It's a cheap option for someone who needs to do his brakes on his car, you can upgrade for BBK without spending too much money! Also, you can sell your ZCP/CSL calipers and carriers and get some money to pay this kit! Last edited by Gt4; 09-12-2014 at 09:10 PM.. |

Yeah, this is a really great deal. I'm considering buying these, but if I don't, I just want to thank the OP for at least bringing this option to the table. I love the look of a BBK, but don't love the price. This looks like a fantastic option to have the best of both worlds, the BBK look with a nice price. As well, you can sell your stock brakes/rotors for probably close to $1k. On my prior Z4M, I purchased Stoptech F&R BBKs and sold the stock equipment with ease.
OP, can you please answer just a couple questions for me? What car are these calipers from? They look like Boxster S calipers, but I could be mistaken. Also, once I were to buy the brackets from rally road, is the only thing left required the brake lines? How would I go about sourcing those? Thanks very much for your time! |

I helped my brother do this conversion on his Z4M and the front is straight forward and will bolt right up. The rear though takes a bit of work. We used the "p0lar" rear brackets which are better engineered then the Rally Road rear bracket because it allows the rear pad to have a full sweep of the rear rotor. If you search "rust ring" and "rally road" you will see what I mean by the pad not getting a full sweep. The p0lar rear brackets were made to take care of the rust ring issue and also the issue where the Rally Road brackets contact the upper rear control arm bolt. While I can confirm it eliminates the rust ring issue it does not fix the issue with the upper control arm bolt contacting the bracket on the Z4M. So you need to get creative with the dremel tool grinding a bit of the bracket off to make clearance. The brackets were never designed for the Z4M so I can't hold it against p0lar. Also one thing to keep in mind is rear pad selection. p0lar on M3forum went to alot of trouble to find a pad size that maintains the correct brake bias. If i remember correctly we used a 996 front pad in the rear caliper and this gives the brake a bias that is smack in the middle of what the CSL came with and what the bias is with an AP racing BBK. As far as performance it is huge bang for the buck! I have driven my car for 20 laps (Oem Z4m brakes with PF08, fluid and brass caliper bushings) and then hopped in his car for 20 laps and the difference in feel alone is worth the price.

You can also find used brackets on M3forum.net in the for sale section.
I was supposed to install those BBK on my Z3M Coupe but finally I will keep the OEM brake system because I might sell the car next spring. |

Thanks GT4, I appreciate it. I would have bought this setup immediately, but I just had new rotors put on all four corners (less than 1k miles ago), so I don't need those. I doubt you'd want to split the package up, so best of luck in your sale. Thanks again so much for the information and the headsup about this BBK solution, this is a great setup.

LoL, we shall see. ;P
Regardless, I won't be doing anything until the Spring. If I get these, I'll be sending them off to my powdercoater guy to paint bright yellow with black Brembo logo stamps. I had it done on my 135i, and I thought it looked great. I don't want to just do these by themselves though. I need 19" matte black wheels, fat tires, and a nice drop all at the same time. No piece by piece stuff anymore, all at once baby!! Even if I don't get these, somebody else will get a great deal!! |
