Ordered a pair in black and a trunk stop limiter for the hardtop from endras bmw Canada. Side covers they have in stock. Trunk stop limiter can be obtained from Germany in 2wks. Order has been placed and charged. The beauty of it all is the U.S. $$$ - Canadian $$$ conversion rate. Much cheaper....Thnxs Canada.

I've never noticed that specific noise in my car, but the covers will eliminate most of the air turbulence as air passes over the opening for the roof mechanism when the top is down, when compared to a car without these covers. So, noise must be reduced as well. I guess you have to try it and see.

Just a heads up....I called tischer and although it may show "in stock" it's actually unobtainable. I even had fields bmw do a continental search with it showing zero stock both for a trunk stop limiter and side covers. Canada is the way to go if you want these.

Trunk stop limiter is a small round piece of blk pvc that fits over the trunk hinge that prevents it from opening about 1/4" more when the hardtop is on. This essentially saves the rear windshield from being smashed. Ill shoot a pic of it when I get home.

trunk stop limiter
Here's a picture of the ridiculously expensive piece of plastic which is no longer sold here in the U.S. I bought one from a dealership in California that had 1 in stock by mistake-I.E.$15.00 shipped. I installed that on the rt. side and on the lft. I used some rubber fuel hose that covered it perfect but looks somewhat tacky and doesn't have the same hardness as the plastic. So when I inquired about the top side panel covers, I figured what the hell I'll ask about the stop limiter. They have them so it was a done deal. I didn't want to open the trunk, have the wind catch it and wind up with a shattered rear windshield with the hardtop on. I drove 13 hrs. round trip to Michigan to purchase the hardtop from Chicago, IL. It already had a shattered rear window(owner had new one in box), stand, retrofit kit, lock down tool and 2 covers. I had to strip it down, get it painted, install new rear window and put it back together again. So that $15.00 piece of plastic may be worth it in the end. Here's the URL to the thread I posted about the hardtop below.

Got the side covers as well in blk delivered. The trunk stop limiter was a bust. Bmw superseded the part which will not fit so I sent it back to endras bmw. Nice guys to deal with. In particular a guy named "sean". They said as well..unobtainable-no more stock.

I called my local Canadian dealer yesterday to inquire on behalf of a friend who has a Z4. You guys are lucky - but my friend was not - I was told that the Canadian warehouse is now completely sold out of convertible top covers.

if someone takes precise measurements of that trunk stop (as in, with a pair of calipers, not a tape measure), I'm sure I can duplicate it cheaply, probably $20 a pair including shipping. Its just a piece of hard plastic with a tight bore.
