Question Z4MR 2007 - Startup issue

Hi Guys!

Never posted on this forum before, but i have read alot since christmas when i bought my Imola Z4 M Roadster. My god what a beast, i had a E46 M3 before but i dont think you can compare the two

So to my problem:

The car runs fine, except for som idiling issue and a rare startup problem. It takes maybe less than a second more to start than normal, i know this. Ive had it in authorised BMW dealer 2 times and they cant solve the "problem". They upgraded the software last time but nothing changed. Still takes a little to long to start the car.
Im so annoyed at BMW for just reading the electronics and if no problem comes up, the car is perfectly fine.

So Do you guys know what this can be?

Please help!

BR,
Jimmy

How do you park your car?

I have the same issue (very intermittently) if I park the car overnight on a grade. This does not normally happen when parked on a level surface.
Does not really bother me. I consider it an idiosyncrasy of the car..

I had a stalling issue when starting in temps below the 30s. I solved it by putting the key in the on position a few seconds prior to cranking. It seems the build up of fuel pressure prior to cranking is what the M needs on a cold start. If you listen you can hear the fuel pump run and shut off.

^this is the proper starting procedure.
The fuel pump will start in the first position & pressurize the system.

If it helps any, my car takes a while to start---probably 1 second of it cranking---and I wait for about two seconds at position 2 before cranking.

I think it's normal for our cars. No problems with idle after it starts.

Mine also takes about a second to start, especially in temps below 50 F. I'm parked on a rather steep incline though.

What about a "shutter" when turning off the engine? Or an unsteady idle? Anyone have that?

It's kinda unsettling. There's no way that can be normal.

Stutter on shut down, clutch out. Clutch in, shut down, no stutter. Smooth idle all the time.

Shutter no matter what. Doesn't matter when the clutch is in or out.

Turn key to running at 1050rpm, 1.2". Then drop to 850 at 1.9" total. 47 degrees in garage.

I have an issue even when letting the pump prime in colder weather <45deg, it was sag below idle and then surge before settling at the normal cold idle. When warm outside no issues. Idle all other times is dead on.

Slow startup IS one of those idiosyncrasies of S54 motors from what I've come to believe via hands-on experience.
I also try to allow the fuel pump some time to pressurize prior to startup. Here's a recording of how long it takes to start
