It didn't work for my MAF...I ended up finding the lowest price on new-part.com for $261.37 and purchasd it through BAVAUTO, as they gladly matched the price

Well looks like you may have been right. Found a used maf cheap and put it in just to see if it made a difference... Had codes read and cleared (this time just banks 1 and 2 rich, no maf code) and have been driving now for about 300 miles with multiple start stops and still no cel. The occasional rough idle seems to be totally gone as well. I don't notice any drivability difference other than smoother idle so hopefully this works long term.
