New VT2 525 Arrives on Thursday! Looking for Boost/Oil gages (PIC ADDED)
I pulled that trigger.
I will be doing my install this weekend. Can anyone provide advice for Pods / Boost Gauges and Oil Pressure? Is there a good Pillar mount or One near the ashtray? Brands? Thanks! Chip Last edited by badhbtz; 04-08-2015 at 12:58 PM.. Reason: added picture |

Pods aren't made any more. Your options are Radar-mirror and P3Cars. Having had a pod and both of the above options, P3Cars is the easiest to install. Once you get over the novelty of having gauges to look at, you'll cycle through every once in a while to make sure everything is working as it should. The exception would be track driving.
AFR and boost are best in the rear view mirror, because they change quickly and require more attention under acceleration. Temperature gauges are best in the pod, because temperature changes less rapidly. You can choose analog needles, and have them all point in the same direction under normal operating conditions (either all point straight up, or all point at the 9 o'clock position). That way you can quickly glance at the direction the needle is pointing to notice if one is out of place, and not waste time scanning the actual numbers. The gauges should have dummy lights too, which illuminate when the car gets too hot.

Thanks for the assist - I was looking at both of the options you mention. I do however like the Analog POD in the A-Pillar. Wouldn't be hard to make my own using glass and wrapping to look OEM - Just a time sink. I will likely do Oil pressure and temp on the Pods and the others in the PCAR and Mirror mods. Pretty expensive for what you get but that's the car game. So what company makes the best analog gauges that are best matched for the Z4m? Thanks again! Chip |

All of the above.
I do monitor the gauges due to having earlier issues with my tune. It is now a habit to glance at the gauges often, not a bad one methinks. Boost, AFR and oil temp are what I have in a 3D design console gauge pod.

There was an "Mickey Mouse" ear pods option for the E36 and E46, maybe some other early models. I don't know if it's available for Z4M. If so I'd love to get one. IMO, this is one of the best arrangements.
