Probably dumb question about bleeding brakes

I was planning on using a turkey baster or pump to remove the old brake fluid in the reservoir, but there's a screen blocking the entrance... how do you guys get rid of as much old fluid as possible before flushing with new fluid? Do you remove the screen somehow?

Also, I'm probably going to buy a Motive pressure bleeder to do the task. I have no compressor to run a vacuum bleeder. Any other tips/suggestions?

Pull the screen out.

The screen is on a "cup" with 3 bumps that holds it to the lip of the reservoir. Remove the screen and you can remove most of the fluid in the reservoir with a syringe or turkey-baster.

I have the pressure bleeder from BavAuto and find the pressure release valve and the quick connect invaluable. I used to have a Motive and gave that to a friend after I bought the BavAuto bleeder.

Garage List
2008 Z4M Coupe  [10.00]
2018 Audi S3  [0.00]
2004 X5  [8.50]
The ///M uses DOT4...not sure about non-M, but assuming would be the same. I did a complete bleed on all 4 corners plus clutch using less than 1L with plenty to spare.

I divided up a liter, assuming a flush, as Hack points out below:

Reservoir 300 ml
RR 200 ml
LR 150 ml
RF 150 ml
LF 100 ml
Clutch 100 ml

Just rough guesses. Used Motul 600 and Speed Bleeders.

Bleed or flush? Bleed takes less than 500ml if there's not a lot of air trapped in the line.

Flush take about 1 liter.
