Wind Restrictor installation
Hi, I recently purchase the Wind Restrictor with the optional LED light for my '06 Z4 3.0si. I am trying to figure out how to power it automatically when the power is on with the car or even better, when the headlights go on. I can see that I can route wires into the trunk/boot but I am not sure which wires are back there to provide power and ground.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Fernando |

You should be able to get from the boot to the SOS buttons in the center console.
Those have LEDs that come on when the lights are on. I stumbled across it when I was looking for switched power for somebody installing a GROM. If you need a schematic, let me know, otherwise I leave it as an exercise for the student: http://www.bmw-planet.net/diagrams/r.../e85/index.htm Then again, if you're in the boot, why not the tail lights?

well, I am on the cabin side, so I would need to get to the other side, perhaps through the middle on the boot side. Also, I noticed that there is a wiring harness that controls all lights on the rear tail light housing, I am not sure which one does what.

Looks like pin 2 on the SOS buttons is for the light, pin 5 is ground.
Tail lights are pin 5 on the left, pin 2 on the right. Ground is pin 3 on the left, pin 4 on the right. The left/right tail light connectors are mirror imaged.
