CCV Operation
Does anyone know how the hose and valve on this CCV application operate? The larger hose looks just like a connection to intake manifold vacuum. It's that little guy that does the 180 degree turn that is peaking my curiosity. I've seen some pics of the same engine (S54) that don't include the smaller tubing and valve at all, but I don't see any European versions of the engine in RealOEM that don't have the stub from that metal tube on the right side of the pic.
Thanks!! Ted |

After some degree of searching I found a blurb from bimmerworld: "Fitment note: for 2005-2006 E46 M3 and 2006-2008 Z4 M Roadster/Coupe. New style vent hose has an extra electrically-operated valve that vents vapor directly into the idle air system. Early and late systems are not interchangeable."
Also, in RealOEM, the E46 M3s are shown without that valve and the additional hose. Back story: I'm installing a G-Power supercharger in my 2008 Z4M and I'd like to clean up the engine compartment as much as I can. I'm tempted to throw those M3 parts at it. Comments are welcomed. |

you would need to have the DME updated to delete the code. My car has a DTC as the vacuum values with the CSL box are off, so the car triggers DTC for CCV and Brake Booster system check issues. just be prepared to have a phantom code, Josh can disable the DTC, but it will have a trace whenever you scan the car.
The solenoid valve is present on E46 M3 too, the solenoid is only used on US spec cars, E46 and E85/86 chassis' |
