For that money I'd buy a 2005-06 Ford GT.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

It's disposable income used for toys, one doesn't necessarily have to choose the Z8 over a different car when they may already have a Ford GT in their small or rather likely extensive automotive collection.

IMHO they're a bit optimistic on the "Steve Jobs" premium they have rolled into their estimate, but people have paid $100K for a celebrity's dirty underwear, so who knows?

The only reason that particular Z8 is being priced that the level is because jobs owned it for 3 years. I guess if you are enough of a tech geek, owning something from Steve Jobs gets your wood. A real car guy (we're on a car Forum here...) would buy a performance car for that kind of money regardless of his income level.
