What is the easiest way to attach this front lip permanently? Remove the front bumper from the car, bolt the front lip spoiler underneath and install the front bumber back onto the car? I have one of these MSTACHE laying around, but have yet to install it...

having done it, I will will be doing the following after I repair and paint it.

i will lift the car, put it on jacks. get a heat gun heat the double side tape. Affix the tape to the MStache, then heat the double side tape on the other side then affix to the car. then bolt on firmly.

Hope fully this will end up better than my previous attempt

Sure, but if you'd like, I can drill the holes for you in advance.

There's no need to remove the front bumper for the installation.

I use the 4 factory screws and then 3M double sided automotive molding tape such as this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...=SPM5901845408

Make sure the mounting surfaces are clean and that the ambient temperature is warm enough for the tape adhesive to set and you're good to go.

The Mstache won't go anywhere if installed properly.

Well got it done. I uised the glazing putty, sanded and used some black glossy metallic paint and well this is how it turned out. I think it came out pretty good. Thanks for the advice on how to "fix" it Steve

Also. I used some transparent heat/freeze/waterproof silicone in the small gap, just to make sure that water etc doesn't get to the tape. But all in all I think it came out pretty good

Finished and installed.

Bruce came up with support clamps on the front. We used 2 screws per side, three clamps in the middle and the double tape across the whole thing. It ain't coming off unless it gets ripped off.

Here are the clips he came up with. Short pieces of aluminum bent slightly in the middle to give a piniching effect once screwed in place.

The clip reaches up under the lip and holds it in place using the exsisting screw hole. No new holes to drill in the bumper.

The black on the red makes it really pop out at you. I love it on my car, but it looks even better on the red.

The bolt for the mounting plates looks too large. I don't want to enlarge the existing hole in case you want to revert back. Did you have to use a different clip?

That is the existing fastener from the car, not a new bolt. Bruce did not have his apron attached under the car so we could do the work and reach up behind the bumper if we needed to. But that screw and 3 more like it hold the front of your apron on under the car.

No holes were enlarged to accomidate any new size screws. Bruce matched up his two outside holes and used same size screws. I matched up 1 each of the far outside holes but afte we got it up I simply shot a screw threw the bottom of the bumper in the meat of the mustache. There is no reqiurement to really match the holes if you don't want too. You can not see any of the fasteners once installed.

You can see mines are small screws attaching the spoiler and undertray.

It looks like to me someone has already substituted the original screws for those. They are not the same. You should have the hex washer type b screw like on our cars. They are all over mine, so unless BMW decided to change up screws on the underside apron someone did that for you.

In any case more than likely the body of the screws are the same size, our screws just look bigger because of the head and washer combination.

Real OEM have screws like in my picture. Just saying there are differences so the bracket might not work on all.
