Wow. The coupe hit 26mpg.

Didn't know this could be done. At least by myself. Actually hit 26.4 right before I got into town. 60 mile rural drive on back roads and a state highway. Went through two very small towns so there was some stop and go. Drove like miss daisy with no hard acceleration and kept within a mile of the posted limit. Left it on cruise through all the curves(fun!) and did not hit the brakes till I went through the small towns. Tried this back when I first got the car and could only mange 24.7. Same route, wind conditions. I think the GruppeM and the RPI scoop may help a little.

I don't have a pic, but it was actually 27.3 over a ~150 mile drive. The best part is that the A/C was on and I actually did a couple pulls too Who needs a hybrid?

When did you last reset the mpg on the computer? I have seen +30 after resetting it on the expressway. Doesn't last too long though

I did this on the 3.0SI and on my MR...but if you reset the computer...you'll get a really high average...I don't know if it's real or not. I can get up to 28 or 29 MPG readings...but if you don't reset...I bet your average will be much less...or if you drive long enough on the freeway the average will begin to dwindle down slowly. All I know is that the M gets a lot less gas mileage than the 3.0SI.

26-27mpg is very do-able on flat roads if you can keep it between 55-60mph in 6th. Problem is that I can never leave it in cruise control doing less than 60mph for too long on open road

just got 20.0 mpg on a full tank worth of daily driving in the city (28 miles total per day, no variance in route). I was very happy with that! Looking forward to some highway miles now!

I used 16 litres of fuel in the 24km I did at my last auto-X, or 67 l/100km (3.5mpg)

I've always found that the onboard trip computer is slightly inaccurate. I use fuelly to track my gas mileage very fillup simply by dividing the miles I drove on the tank by the # of gallons I put in the car when I fill up. The trip computer always seems to be right around 0.5 MPG higher than my actual MPG.

Best I've seen was 25.6 MPG driving from NC to FL when I first picked up the car. She's averaged 21.8 MPG through the roughly 2k miles I've owned it so far though.

My coupe hit 33mpg one 120 mile trip. Just going 65-70 the whole time no stopping. I normally get 25-27mpg. Guess that is the one single advantage of having the si.

I got 25.5 MPG coming back from an autocross trip. 120 miles...I was on the turnpike and was going 78 mph. This was with spirited accelerations too from each toll booth. It's not that hard to get this mileage IMO

On the way there though, I caught a huge head-wind and averaged 21.1 mpg

Just a regular 3.0i but I get almost 30 out of it on a 33% city/66% highway commute and that is with some daily screwing around.

I found that indicator grossly inaccurate due to tank sloshing. Measured at the pump, my 27mpg indicator was really 23mpg based on miles and fuel pumped and the only time I saw 27mpg was when I was already on the freeway, and reset the pig.

I have found my computer to be almost spot on. both the Z4 and X3 computers have given readings that are very close.

I've been seeing 26-28mpg on average on my Z4, but my daily drive is 50 miles on the freeway at 55-65mph more than half the way (on cruise control.) Pump backs up the results, which makes the pocketbook happy.
