Quad Exhaust Conversion ... Done!!

Well today has been an interesting day..

Exhaust has been fitted and its not been without its difficulties which resulted in a price hike but I am very happy with the result and the price payed.

The job changed a little once we started and we decided to omit the back box completely so the rears are just piped straight through; however the mid silencer and resonator are still in place. The result is a fantastic sound with alot of banging and popping when lifting off the throttle. Ill not lie its loud, almost verging a little on too loud but I like it.

I toyed with the idea of introducing a new box to feed both sides but figured as it was considerably cheaper to not have this done I would see how i get on with it like it is and can always add a box in at a later date if it gets too much.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the finished job, apologies but its the best I can get without getting on my back under the car.. I totally forgot to take pics during the install

looks clean. But in the winter, only exhaust fumes will come out of one huh?

No both sides are piped up individually so they both smoke up..

Looks nice. Interesting that you would choose to add 30lbs of weight on the car. Many M owners would actually pay a hell lot of money to lose 30lbs.

Here you go. Sorry for the poor angle but I think you should be able to get the idea of what we did.

... Why not?

I just prefer the more balanced meaner look from the rear with the quads

You've added loads of mod and your motor looks rockin. With all the cash you've spent couldn't you have brought an m. You can't be far away from that price bracket?
Still I bet you've had fun!

Thanks for the complement Carter.. When I was looking for a car back in February I was looking at M's aswell as mine. To be fair it wasnt a case of the cost of buying one as I could have had an M for more or less the same price as mine but its the running costs of an M over mine that I couldnt justify at doing between 15 and 20k a year. im getting nearly 30MPG and my mate whos has a Z4M roadster is getting about 15 to 17MPG town driving. Take into account the additional road tax, insurance, servicing etc I just couldn't justify it..

Looks good to me! You had a fine looking car to begin with and now it really looks great.

Wow - I had no idea that there was such a big difference in the fuel consumption of the Z4M and the Z4 3.0si. Does your mate have a bit of a lead foot, or does his car just burn a lot more gas than yours?

lol, I'm sorry, but if you mean $15,000 you're sorely mistaken. Yes, the ///M costs more in maintenance and gas, but it's no where near $15k a year.

I think that MrMason is referring to the mileage he expects to put on his car each year, which, if he were driving an M, would equate to a significant additional annual fuel expense.

Thanks Huz-Z, Im starting to get the car just as I want it now.

No he drives like an old lady most of the time lol. He just doesnt really get to drive it much on long runs so this affects the MPG quite considerably. I just couldn't justify all the extra fuel costs.

Yes, I was referring to the number of miles I drive per year on average. Thanks for clearing that up Huz-Z

Thanks.. But let me tell you if you had those then you would be happy for a few days and then you will move onto wanting the next thing.. Its a vicious circle lol. I was happy with my M bumper until I wanted wheels, and then I was really happy with my wheels until I wanted a quad....

M bonnet would look awesome though.. Do it, you know you want to

Looks fanastic! The fit and finish looks amazing. I was thinking about the weight difference of this and I would assume it would be pretty close to how it was before if not a few pounds lighter. The muffler is quite large and hefty. How do you like the sound?
