O-cha may have a better explanation that I do because he has a little more track time than me.

Keeping your upper body planted in the seat does several things.

You expend a lot of energy just trying to keep yourself in the seat. This drains you faster and you loose your mental edge faster. The mental keeps the physical going. If you start to lose your mental edge on the track, you are done.... This is one of the reasons real race car drivers are such athletes. After a 45min to an hour on the track, I am puddy and need that time between events to recover.

You also are holding yourself in place with your arms/hands attached to the wheel so you also lose some of your 'touch'. You grip the wheel harder so steering inputs gets rougher and you are not controlling the car as well. You also start steering with your arms and not using your back muscles in conjunction with your arms. You also have a tendency to throw you elbows out a little magnifying the effect. Hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, back muscles all work together in harmony.

When you loose touch with the seat, you also losing touch with the car. Now you can't feel as well just what it is doing. Muted inputs.

Yea, that makes sense...I completely re-read that part wrong.

I read it as "Preventing your torso from going forward (As in using the seat-belt to prevent your body from going forward) is the worst part."

Not as in using your arms to prevent your body from going forward.

Thanks though for the clarification anyways

If you do this correctly, the seat-belt will stay locked. The trick is that you should move back far enough that when you return forward the shoulder strap should be a touch over uncomfortably tight (things will loosen a tiny touch as you start driving).

I can also do it with my manual seat.

I never slide around in my stock seat maybe I haven't driven hard enough. I will try harder next time to see if I slide...

You may think you don't (I didn't)
Once you experience being strapped in, it's amazing how much better it is.

Solo filled up before we sorted out our schedule so "no". I really wanted to do that one. We're going to have to shoot for Monday June 6th at T Hill assuming I can get the day off.

I would not be surprised to see you shave off a few seconds by being secured in the seat. It's a lot easier to be precise when you're not using the wheel and your feet/legs to hold you in place! I was surprised how much effort I was expending on staying put by using arms, legs, back, and feet.

I will miss 6/6 event but I will be there on 6/24. Hope to see you all there again.

Sounds like a "hint" to me. FYI, Ron and I are thinking of going that day. Oh and not to . I got the cg lock and it works well. Nice addition for 38 bucks.

Tested one of these out this weekend and it works great, I took a good friend out, and he was laughing at me because he was sliding all over the place and said I really could use seats and harnesses, I told him I'm not having any problems now that I got the CG Lock.... but not on the passenger side
