will this aFE intake fit, please help

i found a new great deal on an aFE intake but it says for 2006-2008 3.2 L z4.

I have a 2004 3.0L z4 so clearly this is different.

my question is how much different is this intake really, i mean can it be modded if at all needed to fit the 04 3.0L z4? or is it really a big difference?

just in case you don't mind clicking on a link please do and see the item for yourself.

http://www.upgarage.com/upgarage/sto...028/174?size=m

it is a lot cheaper and if it will work i am going to buy it but wanted to hear from someone with some experience first. thanks guys!

It will not. MAF sensor and overall design are different on the z4m vs non m. Even the smallest difference on MAF location may create surging

i guess the bigger question would be is the MAF sensor the same size on both cars in question. the MAF sensor hole on the intake would need to match up for that piece to fit and i'm fairly certain the air filter and box would fit.

well now it looks like the one for the 04 3.0L doesn't even have the MAF sensor plug into the intake, this seems weird to me.

Look for used ones in the classifieds. It does make a nice sound

Anyone with open air intakes that have experienced problems with the MAF breaking? And do you use oil- or non-oil filters?

Thinking about getting the Simota carbon fiber intake, on their website it says you can use it without oil. But it's not worth it if the MAF breaks more regularly.

I never had an issue with the AFE. Others have had issues with the Simota. I believe there's a thread on the Simota.

I considered the Simota, but I waited until someone else had put some miles on it to see what they thought.
Then this review came along.

That doesn't sound promising. I'd go for a CSL style carbon intake if it wasn't so damn expensive. I want that sound!

Simota sucks. AFE is awesome. Using oiled filter w/o any issue whatsoever.

Anyone who bitches about soiled sensors (or the result of) shouldn't use a 'wet' system because it's obvious they don't know what they're doing. Too bad Fisher-Price doesn't make an intake for them

You think their MAF's breaks because they use too much oil? I've never had an open air filter on a car so I don't have any experience with it. I've just read on the internet and many people complain about broken MAF's.

I'm talking fouled, not broken. They are sensitive pieces for sure. But if they're breaking them, then they still belong in the same group I was talking about. It's not rocket-science.

The ones complaining didn't apply the oil properly and got it on the MAF. Agree about the Fisher Price intake. It's not hard.

I've had a K&N stock replacement for almost 3 years now without problems.
And the charcoal filter delete.
I apply the oil sparingly as directed, and use CRC MAF cleaner.
