My guy couldn't get the LEDs to work and he's pretty good with BMW lighting, not sure why, and be careful modding these units as they are touchy and prone to over heating. A new unit is around $1000, you can find some dealers to sell them to you for less, but still not cheap if something goes wrong. We added angle eyes to the outer rings and the setup overheated some of the components causing the inner lense cover to melt. I'm getting two new headlight units in the spring and going back to stock...
That being said, removing the amber is possible, and shouldn't cause any problems, but it is a huge P.I.T.A. What we did was remove the headlight completely and punch out the amber bulb covers from behind the headlight. As you probably know, the bulbs are not amber, they are standard bulbs with amber covers. The bulbs need to be removed, we then punched the covers through to the housing, smashed the covers as delicately as we could (they are thin glass) and cleaned out the broken pieces, replaced the bulbs and reinstalled head lights. You can try to use a vacuum to get the pieces our or you can pry the headlight apart slightly and shake the pieces out...sort of barbaric but it gets the job done. I think I have pics posted somewhere of how/where to pry the unit apart... |

considering the difficulty of getting this right, i really don't mind spending the money for tekarbon. only prob is only considering the cost of oem headlights, nobody knows how long tekarbon led's will last and if anything were to get f'd, i really dont want to have to shell out for new oem lights. but tekarbon angel eyes + clear strip look so sexy.

Had to resurrect this.
I have clear corners similar to Luminor and I'm sick of how ugly they look with the stock clear bulb. Mine look exactly like his picture above. I'm going to be ordering LEDs for all the bulbs and then figuring out the resistor piece or just code them out. Has anyone done LEDs in the front yet? Any tips or things to look for? Shape or length of the LED? Was looking at this EBAY SEARCH but there are quite of few different types to try. I figured someone might have tried this, even if it was through the amber lenses.
