Way to big a wheel for tire it looks and I would make them replace my Morr wheel. i had that size tire on some 10" Arc-8's and it was fine. Hmm

I ordered the same same as dubseed through gtbperformance 19x8.5et35 and 19x10et26 .Maybe they sent me a wrong size I had to wait close to 10 weeks after I had paid in full fro them (15 weeks from the 50% downpayment to get them manufactured. ) I am now pissed at the tire wheel shop but more even so thinking ĦI have a wrong size i did not order. how can i check the size of them?

unfortunately the shop is only responding to getting the rim fixed. (it has marks all over the place and scratches even bent in one point due to not knowing hot to mount a tire and applying to much pressure with a crowbar. i hope they fix it fine if not I am making them buy me a new one. I also wang to note that the front wheels were mounted just perfect. maybe they had so much trouble because the tire was not wide enough for the wheel I got sent.

It will never look new if they try to "fix" it. Make them pay for a new wheel.

Also, unless you want to roll your fenders and try to put 285 tires on, that's how it's going to look...

Looks alright to me. The pss has rounded sidewalls because it's more of a performance tire.

Here is how mine looks

I don't see any information about which model of car you have in your avatar/signature area.

Is your car an M like dubs? If not...the Non M's seem to have about 1/2" less width in the wells for wheels.

Also....if your unhappy with the job they do on the wheel repair....just don't accept it and have them order a new one.Wheels get a ding or two with each handling, that is normal...but yours were raped !

If your wheels are hand brushed finish...they will not repair them properly

Bet you the tire shop mounted the front tires on the rear wheels.

the problem is that the tire shop belongs to a friend of mine and he was mounting them as a favor, he fired the operator on the spot but I feel bad making him pay for the wheel. (he paid for the broken tire, in mexico the michellin pss are 750 usd each), my set is hand brushed finished and the car is a z4m coupe. I hope the damaged wheel turns out fine (I know it wont be like new) but the majority of the scrapes, dings and bends are on the very edge/lip of the wheels....

sorry about the crowbar I did not know the name for the bar they use to handle the wheels.

Sticky situation for you, I understand better now. Best of luck with the hand finishing. Metal finishing is a black art sometimes. I have many years experience on stainless wine vats and such. Dialing in the brushed finish grain just right is like surgery. Aluminum is just softer, so it can be worked easier.

I got a crazy idea on how to find out the width of your wheel, hear me out:

flip it over, whip out a tape measurer, and measure it

I'm here to help you out any way I can.

We sent you the correct fitment for the car, which is the same size as dubsesd's wheels. I don't like throwing blame around but you chose the exact correct size tire for that rim. They should have zero problems fitting it to that wheel.

A lot of shops don't have the correct mounting devices to be able to mount that wide of a rim. Let me know how the repairs go and if they get completed to your satisfaction. I'll try to assist the best I can!

This is why i NEVER mix business and pleasure, when the shit hits the fan (like it always does with cars that we love) your left with amoral dilemma, now for me, friend or not id expect that rim replaced. simple.

sorry about your trouble..... remember having friends work on your car is great when all is well but when it goes bad, its like throwing yourself under the bus!!

Exactly wtf.

And if that's how the tires sit on those rims (rears)... I'd be changing something. :

They are Michelin PSS. They are supposed to sit like that.

Thank you for your responses, Thats why I wanted to ask before pointing out any fingers. I tried to locate a reputable tire shop but here in mexico it was hard to find one and my friends shop seemed like a good bet. (I learned the hard way...). I measured the wheel and it does seem to be the correct with, I gues the PSS sit different than other tires.
I will keep you posted on the repairs on the wheel. (If id doesnt turn out ok, I guess I wil have to send the wheel back to morr for them to help me fix it).

Diego,

This totally SUCKS. I'm speaking to GTB now to get something figured out for you - it's a shame that they did such a number on the wheels.

As far as the width of the wheels, to save you having to measure them, I'll make it extremely easy for you: we ONLY make 19" in 19x8.5", 19x9" and 19x10" - nothing else. Since it's obviously a rear, it can only be a 19x10"

I would check the tire specs out. Michelins (and others) come in several different specs within the same model. For example, Michelin makes the PS2 in their standard spec, in BMW spec, and in Porsche spec. The Porsche Spec PS2's (which I *think* are the N1's but I could be wrong) have less thread-ware, are lighter, stiffer, run narrower, and have a more rounded sidewall than the standard spec PS2's.

We've seen this happen more than once on several different wheels from several different manufactures. One of our customers with a 20x10" on a PS2 in 285/30/20 with standard spec is perfectly flush, and another customer with a 20x10" on a PS2 w/ Porsche spec in 285/30/20 had major tire stretch; same wheel, same tire, same size, different specs.

I would check which model of PSS the tires are first before anything else.

Hope this shines some light on the issue, and we'll work with GTB to get these babies looking like new for you

- Andy

Thanks Andy for the great custoemr service!! I guess the PSS are narrower than other tires, I just left the wheel at the repair shop, I will let you know as soon as I recieve them to let you know how the repair turned out.
