Halo Delete - Help Please

Hi,
Im looking to delete my halos as im sick of the bulbs burning out and I get the dash warning light. Can i just short the wires together on each bulb and be done? Any other methods? Thanks!

You can code off the bulb warning and then just leave them burned out, or put in LEDs.
I went with LEDs. Search the forum on "halos" and you should be able to find ideas.
Don't short the wires together. That will end badly.

Or you can code off DRL after you replace the bulbs so it will still function when your headlights are on - this will make it last a lot longer.

Which LED’s did u go with? I thought most LED’s led to a dimmer output and those that were bright ran the risk of too high of voltage

Some LEDs will be dimmer some will be brighter. The brighter ones don't run at a higher voltage, the run at a higher amperage and for these little bulbs, I haven't seen any that will run too hot to damage anything. Actually even the highest power ones in this bulb size run cooler than the stock Halogen bulb.

I did some experimenting with some drop in LED bulbs and found some that were a little brighter than the stock bulbs but they are also bluer. There is a translucent blue plastic lens between the bulb and the Halo ring, so there is no matter what bulb you select it will always have a blueish tint. I did code out the error when running the LEDs. Still can hardly see them in the on a sunny day.

I have done several dual LED Halo rings for people and they are 100 times brighter than even the brightest LED drop-in LED. This can be see in on a sunny day.

I used these.
Brightness was a wash. Whiter, though.
Could have been brighter, but the LEDs don't line up perfectly with the ring.
IIRC, they go about 1/8" past the "sweet spot".

The brightest drop in LED is one with (16) Cree XBD LEDs per bulb sold as 80w. You'd still need to code out the error check.

The problem with the halos is you're trying to side illuminate the plastic ring.
Any LEDs that shine out the top or insert past the ring are in a black hole.
The lowest set of LEDs are the only ones that do anything.
Need to find ones where the lowest set of LEDs are the same distance from the base as the filament is in the incandescents.

Agreed, but I experimented with moving LED assembly forward and backward to find the sweet spot of the LED chips with the AE ring and they are a little brighter in right spot. In my opinion, they are still a joke, even in the sweet spot, the AE should have never been put on the car if they weren't going to make them bright enough to be usable as DRL. That's why I retrofit dual LED Halos for people.

Like the others here, the least invasive method would be to replace the bulbs with LED. Coding them off (bulb-out indicator options in LSZ) would be a good option as well.

Funny thing is, I've been trying to find a place in SoCal to retrofit angel eyes since Tekarbon doesn't offer the service anymore. So I'm in the opposite situation where I want angel eyes but OEM headlight assemblies are a tad pricey.

Doesn't your 3.0si have angel eyes? or do you want those bright dual angel eyes like the ones I offer as retrofits shown in my previous post?

My car does not have angel eyes.

Did the angel eyes come standard with OEM bi-xenons? I bought my car used, and it came with halogens. Not sure if bi-xenon vs. halogens dictated whether or not angel eyes were included.

I've been wanting to get angel eyes without losing the OEM look. So it's either buy a new set for $1k+ or have custom retrofits done. These days I'm leaning towards the latter. Custom jobs like yours seem to look better anyway.

AFAIK, facelift models with OEM bi-Xenon come standard with angel eyes. $1k is allot to spend to get wimpy angel eyes, though the bi-Xenon are a substantial upgrade compared to your Halogens.

BTW, $1k would probably be a pretty good price per pair if they included the igniters, ballasts and all the bulbs.
