New Magnaflow muffler, Sweet sound!

Yesterday, I took my Z to the muffler shop. I had them remove the rear muffler and the center resonator. I place of all that they installed a Magnaflow muffler where the resonator was and straight pipes to the tips where the muffler was. Man it sounds sweet! It sounds just right! Everything including the muffler was less than 1/3 the price of a Supersprint or Eisenman. It sounds louder than the Ikon muffler I had on my E90. The sound is not annoying and it doesn't drone. I may post a clip and pictures today when I get back home from work.

Can't wait to hear then.

What wheels do you have on your car? Can't tell from your sig or avatar.

Here is the sound clip! Remember is a new mufler so it will break-in and change the tone a little bit. And no I don't live in a jungle, for those who ask about the birds and noisy background.

holy s*** thats what a roadster should sound like. Im amazed!! Very very nice choice. Notice any performance gain or loss at all? I had a remus on my car and felt like it was a little restrictive at the bottom end but opened up the top end alot

Damn, that sounds GOOD! Got me all excited over here...I may just have to hop in my Z and go for a ride. I love it, nice choice - not too tart, not too sweet

Thanks! I think the sound should get better as the muffler breaks in. I did a drawing and the magnaflow part # is included.

I have the AFE Cold air intake and it sounds awesome paired up with the Magnaflow. It feels faster! Then again that's my buttdyno!

hey jpass, who did this for you? I'm not a mod freak but this is something I'd actually consider. More interesting to me though would be to see how performance and gas mileage are affected, if at all. Would keep us posted on that?

I will keep posting if I notice any difference in gas mileage or performance. I paid $102.00 for the installation at my local muffler shop that includes the tips, pipes and labor. I paid $86 for the Magnaflow with free shipping bringing the total to $188.00. I think it is a sweet deal when you compare that to the price of overpriced mufflers for this car.

Wow! that sounds incredible! I was planning on doing the same thing to my e90. Just delete the resonator replace it with a double inlet/outlet muffler and run pipes straight to the tail. After listening to your set up I might just go ahead and do it. Thanks for sharing!

Terrific, an affordable alternative to those super-spendy Eurotrash models.

Thanks for posting the sound clip and the illustration.
