Interesting wheel

I really have to move on new tires, and I want to move to 19 PSS's, so that means new wheels. I know a lot of folks have the mesh design, but it has always appealed to me, and I'd like some type of mesh design that hopefully is somewhat unique. I absolutely loved dubsesd Morr wheels and his flush fitment -- the man is a genius when it comes to the Z4M design, but I've dropped a lot of money on the car this year, and I need to keep my wheels relatively inexpensive (< $400 each).

I found these Avant Garde wheels - the M590. I can get them in a custom offset for a perfect flush fit. Weight would be the same in 19" as stock 18" on the front, and about a pound heavier on the back.

Below are some links. The orange BMW has a similar staggered layout to what would be used.

Avant Garde M590

Here is a very crude Photoshop of how the wheels might look: (original photo from enthusiastauto.com)

I also like the VMR 710 and thought the 710FF (flow formed) was my wheel, but it doesn't come in silver. Bummer. I see that the Apex PS-7 is similar, but with a significant weight savings, and it is available in silver.

What do you guys think of the AG M590? Yea/Nay?

I like that style a lot. In fact, I may be in the market for something similar. I think I'll stay with 18s though -- the ride is firm enough stock.

I always wanted the 710's and ended up with the 718's just because I was inpatient. The M590's are just a little different and will give you a nice look!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. The wheels are probably a little too large in this quick and dirty photoshop, but still gives an idea of how it will look. I put in the Vorsteiner 106's in silver. I showed my wife a number of these photoshopped wheels, and she always picks the OEM stock wheel as the best looking. Go figure.

That is a huge weight difference. You've got a great eye for wheels. Do you think the silver VFF106 will look good on my Interlagos Blue roadster? I understand it is also available in brushed aluminum finish. What do you think?

Yes. I think the silver will go very well with blue. I would go with the black centercaps though

I've been in contact with Nick at Vorsteiner and he told me they aren't doing the 106 in silver or brushed for our fitment
Shame, seems crazy to have to powder coated new wheels myself.

I'm looking at these now Salty, the Ispiri FFR6, only 9.5 rear width but close enough.
I think the curves might work well for us! If you can do a photochop please do.
There aren't many pics of these wheels at all that I can find because they are so new. I've emailed them for more info.

Digs,

I couldn't find an example of the FFR6 that I could use, but I found a FFR1 image. This is really rough PS work, but maybe it will give you an idea of how it could look. Will the offsets work on the FFR6?

Awesome work Salty! Wow thanks for doing that mate.
The FFR1 looks better than I thought although I'd still like to see the FFR6.
I still haven't had any response from Ispiri

The front 8.5 wheel with ET35 should be fine but the rear 9.5 with ET 33 may need a 15mm spacer.

Glad to Digs. Wish I could have found an image of the FFR6 that I could use that shows the concavity. I could do a straight side shot, but that doesn't give much of an idea how a concave wheel will look.

I like the Ispiri designs. I couldn't find any USA dealers, though, and they don't list any on the website, just say to contact them direct. I saw a number of UK online dealers. Maybe they could answer your questions. I just googled Ispiri wheels.

Yeah pics of the FFR6 are non existent unfortunately, but if you've got time, why not try a straight side shot with them on your Roady? I'd like to see that..

I've tried emailing Ispiri but still had no response.

Hey Salty,

Those Avant Garde's you're looking at look a lot like the HRE FF01's. I believe mod bargains had a sale last Christmas where the FF01's were only $2000 for all 4 wheels. I believe I saw some pics of dubseed's car with them as well. Really nice wheel and light. They are on my potentials list but I'd have to convince the wife first

Sportline 8S

I'm still looking for wheels. I go round and round, just like the wheels. While doing some research, I found the older Sportline CS 16 that some of you may still have. Are they still holding up well?

Evidently, BMW lawyers put the brakes on that CSL replica. The wheel has been reborn as the Sportline 8S. It is the same minus the M jewel indent and the drilled holes. It looks like a nice, lightweight wheel, and folks seemed to like the older Sportline CS 16 model. The 8S are powdercoated and rotary forged (choose your descriptor for this mfg process). I'm looking at the 19x8.5 ET 35 and 19x9.5 ET 22 with 245/275 PSS tires.

Sorry, didn't see this until now. I've had my Sportlines for 5 years. They are my summer wheels and I put about 4,500 miles on per year. They've held up well and I can attest to their strength. Two years ago I hit a pothole with my front passenger side wheel at about 30 mph. The speed and shape of the pothole were enough to bubble the sidewall but the rim wasn't affected at all.

Thanks for the feedback. I have the new 8S model coming. It's a nice looking CSL-style and the light weight is nice. I needed new tires, and thought ...hmmm, might as well go 19 and get new wheels, too.
