SS X-pipe and SS pipe adaptor project update

Just got my x-pipe adaptors in and unfotrunatly they are the same diameter as the x-pipe itself. This will prevent adaptors from slipping in the pipe. But I believe I can pull the stock pipe off and get a good measurement then have the adaptor welded on to the end of the x pipe with the spinning collar flange in between for a perfect fit. What is nice is that the adaptor already has a "bell" type end which will mate up with the stock or eisenmann exhaust perfectly with the donut gasket. Will update as this will not happen till late March at the soonest.

Pics of the adaptors,ss adaptor and spinnong collar flange......Sorry bout the nasty greasy wall/light switch. Its my experimental grage lab. LOL

Are you sure the adapters won't slide in? Mine took some convincing via rubber mallet, but they went in smoothly; albeit I put the adapters into the receiving end of the muffler cannister, not your specific case

This what I was expecting might be the case. (from the other thread)

Another option to consider.
Some muffler shops have the equipment to flare a pipe to make a slip over joint.
You could flare the X pipe. (the adapter is probably to small to do).
But I would probably go the welding route as well.

Tried to fit it every way. Like putting a circle in a square hole. I believe the SS cans have a smaller diameter tubing so they will slide over or vice versa. The adaptor and xpipe are dead on in diameter. The way I look at it, if welded it will give someone the option of using it on OEM oe any other can beside SS's if I ever sell down the road. May actually increase the value of the part.

With a little more thought they could have made the X-pipe universal fit.
I guess their thinking is; they want to push you to buy their cans instead of some other brand.

It's too bad someone doesn't make am OE X-pipe replacement.

damn. I bet it will fit the coupe just fine. Ive already sunk $700+ with the adaptors. Crap. Good find though. Maybe I can sell the pipe and adaptors. The OEM part numbers are the same for the coupe and roadster. Any one $550 for pipe and adaptors-Shipped? LOL

You just need to expand the adaptor to fit over the x-pipe and after that use a Clamp to hold together should cost you about $100 to do it.

Sell me your X-Pipe for $450 shipped. I'll make good use of it XD !

I just installed headers, and would like to unlock some more potential power before I do dyno runs ^_^

Hmmm these went inside the pipes on the supersprint cans but the SS cans have a slit cut on either side of the pipe. I guess that allows the pipe on the exhaust cans to expand just enough for the adapter or the xpipe to fit inside the cans. I am wondering if you could just cut the same two slits the xpipe to allow just enough play for the adapter to fit in. I will try and get a picture of what I mean. I think it might just be a matter of you getting the dremel tool out to get these to fit.

^thanks, I got the same info.

They are obviously waiting for a container to arrive.
From past experience, if they're expecting Jan-Feb; that will likely mean about March.

Since mine is in storage anyway, that works out fine.
-ordered.
