Just throwing it out there if anyone's interested in a quick C&C and 1.5hr rip around the Niagara Escarpment between Milton and Burlington maybe into Hamilton. Meet up at a Tim Horton in Milton (close to 401/HWY 25) at 9:30AM, tomorrow Saturday July 7th.
Let me know if there is any interest. Tim Hortons 80 Market Dr, Milton, ON L9T 3H5 https://goo.gl/maps/oYCrwhJVfHN2

Might be able to pop in around 10am for the Milton rip...car is a mess still from the last time I took it to Mosport and I doubt I'll have time to wash it before hand.

Hey guys...before we left for that quick spin on a Saturday...we were chatting about brakes given how I picked up a set of front M4 calipers. Well, from the thread below (I know is an e46 M3 but would I be wrong in assuming they are very similar to the Z4M?)...it does not look like too hard a job as that bracket I can build quite easily around here at my shop...ordered a set of rear M4 calipers from the same crashed car I picked up the fronts from...so plan is to do a lot more research and if possible...this winter the plan is to get it done...should be a fun little project if I can pull it off.
Cheers. http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=558795 |

Also if you want some expert advice on brake bias etc ask The HACK as he seem to be very knowledgeable in that area.

The thread you are linking from M3forum, I just want to clarify that the brake kit they have pictured is NOT from an M4, it is in fact an F3x M Performance kit. That being said, I had purchased one of those kits myself in hopes of retrofitting. In the end, with the modifications required to run the kit I decided against it. The deal breaker for me was having to bring out the rotor another 10mm, which meant losing even more room under the already small amount we have to play with under our front fenders. The stock Z4M rotors, and every proper BBK made for the car happens to have very shallow hats, any newer gen BMW rotor however has such a deep hat that it can't be bolted to the hub due the disk itself making contact with the control arm and tie rod end. Basically, I would have had to run a 10MM spacer between the rotor and hub. Decided against it and got a proper BBK. Second time around looking to do a retrofit brake was helping a friend with a pretty serious E30 build. The reason this is relevant to what you are looking to do is because of the similarity between the Z4M front suspension and the E36 M3 front suspension, which this E30 was running. To be able to run an M4 caliper we had to: Trim control arm Trim tie rod end run 6.8mm spacer between hub and rotor custom wheels 18" had to be made (may not be an issue with 19s), any 18" wheel that was test fitted either had too small of a barrel or not enough clearance between mounting surface and spoke. This M240i wheel below barely cleared and only with a 15mm spacer.

Would be pretty cool to have it all fit in my Z4M but I'm not prepared to go to the level you say I would need to to get it all to work. Again, thanks for your input on this |

The brackets/machining of anything I need to I can do personally so the cost is insignificant and I'm just stubborn....I hate giving in/up Cyclops....sorry for hijacking your thread dude Again...thank you for your input...you saved me from buying M4 rotors and a few other things and the associated time and grief then only to find out it's a dead end |
