I HAD to post this!
So I'm out just cruisin 35 here in Austin, lookin for somewhere to grub...and when im exiting theres a red Z4 waiting at the light. When i get up to it, the light turns green and he speeds off, the way we all do. That's when I notice the ///M badge! So I try catching up and h either didn't see me or was trying to get away. I take a wrong turn flip it around catch up to him and he's a few cars ahead of me. Traffic's slow as help but i finally catch up to him roll my window down to say whats up, and he just nods. No surprise in his face that there's another Z4M next to him. Really caught me off guard. Didnt know there was ANYONE with this car that wasnt super stoked about it or anyone else that pulled up next to them...
Have to admit I'm kind of disappointed.... And excuse any misspellings I'm typing this on my phone....

eh. not surprising though. you'll always have those types of people.
a few weeks ago i ran into a middle-aged guy getting into an old Jaguar E-type, which i LOVE. i usually don't give compliments, but i told him that was a really nice car. he looked at me like i was an alien, said thanks and drove off. *laughs |

I'd be disappointed too! Such a rare car, and you'd hope they'd feel the same way.
I was in town on the expressway when another Imola Red Z4Mc went by the other way. But there was no way to flip around and try to catch up--but that was the first thing I thought about doing! |

interesting find really. i've only seen one other interlagos blue m roadster in san antonio off i-410 past airport boulevard. was parked at a chinese restaurant (quality was hopeless) that i'd the misfortune of being recommended to eat at. unfortunately, i'd tagged along in my friend's chevrolet cobalt sedan and didn't manage to find out who the owner was! pity, the m's are indeed rare.

Stereotypical db BMW driver perhaps? Around here, I'm stoked to even see a regular Z4 coupe. My expectation of seeing another M Coupe is next to none. I've seen some M Roadsters and am happy to come across those. So far, they've been happy to come across my M Coupe as well. Kinda neat to have that.

Maybe he just didn't care you had a similar car. A lot of guys just buy a car they like based on aesthetics or the cars' guts, and don't give much of any thought to its rarity.

Sad proof that uninformed consumers vastly outnumber the enthusiasts, even with very special M cars. If another M coupe pulled up next to me randomly I would have gone nuts.

Welcome to Austin. You will find all kinds of car owners here. From very excited about the car brand/model to some that look at you like your an alien if you pull up next to them and wave.

For the first time a few weeks ago I actually got a wave and big smile from another Z4 that I was passing. The guy was older and had the top down, of course. Usually I just get a cursory wave from other male drivers, female drivers rarely wave back.

In Arizona, I would always see this one IB Z4MC... what a showoff, always with a new mod and stuff. In Michigan I can't recall seeing a single Z4MC, besides the few I've seen sitting on the dealer's lot. I have seen a handful of roadsters and it seems they'll wave... if I initiate it.
As for other drivers; caught up to this Mini on the way home from work yesterday... got closer and realized it was a John Cooper Works version. Paced the guy (probably mid/upper 40's) for a second to give him a wave and thumbsup, he wouldn't look over. We got to a light and were both the first cars in our lanes – he held back near my rear bumper, and when the light turned green took off with a fury of torque-steer and tire-squealing

At my job I see 2 on daily basis. One Blue M coupe which is the only Z4m I have seen besides mine. I come across a lot of Z3's for some reason but seems like they have no interest in my car. However I came across an e89 a few months back coming from an opposite direction and she went nuts (must have been dekaliber's sister). Put a huge grin on my face seeing a fellow Z4 lover

^ I have yet to see an E89 in Toronto & there are a LOT of Bimmers here.
Anyone heard how they are selling? (not my CoT, just curious)

Two Sundays ago we had a meet for the local BMW club. On the way there, I spotted a guy in a Z3 driving in the opposite direction. We both tooted the horn and waved.
There are a lot of Z3's here, a couple of Z3M's and a handful of Z4's. It seems that many people don't know of our litttle local BMW Club chapter, or don't care. Too bad because altogether, there is a significant group of Z owners in this small city.

incidentally, i often times park next to an e89 sdrive30i in black sapphire metallic, and in the texan dust and heat, it isn't usually kept very clean. though i'm nuts (cue dekaliber and blind32) about the condition of my car and keep it as clean as possible weekly, i've never gotten even a cursory glance my direction whenever we've crossed paths in the parking lot.

This reminds me. One of my neighbors has a black Z3 M roadster that I've seen him in on a couple of occasions. He's driven by me several times, at least once or twice when I was washing the Z4M. Hasn't ever looked in my direction though. Weird huh?

ill be honest, i love my Z4 and stuff but it feels kinda awkward when someone is trying to blatantly get your attention to give a nod or say nice car just because you're both driving a Z4 lol. i dont know, i feel like the people who do that (atleast around here) are such dorks lol
