Z4M - Carbon filter canister
Can someone let me know where the carbon filter canister is located on a Z4M? I know non-M's have it mounted immediately behind the passenger side fender liner, but I don't imagine that's where the M's is because of the passenger side muffler would occupy most of that space.
Thanks, David |

If anyone else wants to know the answer, the Z4M hides the charcoal canister under a plastic cover mid-way between the two mufflers. On the non-M, this is where the batter box is.

z4mster,
It's part of the emmissions system. It captures gas fumes escaping from the gas tank and redistributes to the intake system to be burnt. David |

The charcoal canister should last for quite sometime (100k+). A non-functioning canister will throw a check engine light if it does become clogged, or leaks.
