Where do you buy nuts and bolts?
I need a few screws, nuts and bolts. Normally I buy parts from Tischer but I just noticed the shipping for $3 worth of parts is $8 and another $5 on top of that for handling! It's not a huge amount but I don't like to pay $13 to ship $3 worth of stuff. Any suggestions?

Find the thread pitch and size, then go to lowes or home depot.

If this is for general use (not a critical part that's subject to stresses, like a fastener that holds a plastic panel on) then probably something basic will do. But for critical items hardness and other considerations come into play. Here's a thread where it's discussed in some detail (relative to suspension). Stretch bolts, suspension and brake bolts/washers/nuts aren't your run of the mill parts.
Now as to where, I've seen several guys recommend McMaster-Carr (e.g. like these). |

Bite the bullet and buy OEM. Buy something else you may need to keep shipping down, ie oil change kit. They ship them for free and will usually throw in small items for free shipping as well.

Yeah I think I will have to bite the bullet here. One of the items I need is a top bolt which I prefer to buy OEM and I don't think I can find top tray clips anywhere else
Thanks for the tips though. It will come handy when I need less specific parts. |

Yup, as others have stated, if ya combine items like that w/ one of our free shipping specials (ie. oil change kit), we'll be happy to include and still ship at no charge.
If that's all ya need, ya might just want to swing by your local BMW dealership to pick those up as the cost of shipping will probably outweigh your savings. If that's not an option or if it's more convenient to order online - then we are always happy to fill the order.....but we have to cover our shipping/processing/handling costs.

Dealer with BMWCCA discount and hardware prices are pretty negligible. Just make sure you give them the correct part number.
