Has any one done similar but introduced another couple of tailpipes on other side of rear bumper?

Can anyone provide any clarity on which muffler will fit best for this application? Anyone else done this?

To date, there is not an ideal muffler for placement in the tunnel, or at least one which has been posted/listed here. Currently for the Si cars, the secondary cats must be removed and the magnaflow can identified earlier in this thread appears to sit lower which sacrifices ground clearance. Since this thread has been around for a few years, it's possible that there are other options for a tunnel mounted muffler which are now available. Stay tuned.

Maybe. Not enough room to stagger, but the 4" diameter might work. The #12468 Magnaflow can is a 5x8 oval and the 1" less hang down might be just right. Two of the 4" rounds won't dampen the sound as much as the larger internal volume of an oval can, but still might be acceptable.

Also in to see if anything fits better. $615 is still a really good price. I'd like to see if you could get lower.

I just had this exact mod done on my 3.0i and it sounds fantastic! I was worried that it would be too loud, but it ended up being perfect. It's easy to keep it quiet when you want to, but it roars when you really juice it.

I went with a smaller Magnaflow dual muffler than the OP, and it fits great. I also went with a pair of Borla tips from Amazon.

Ended up spending a little over $500 after parts and labor.

My apologies for the long delay in getting a video put together. Here's one I shot this evening. Enjoy!

A little but not enough to be annoying. I like this setup because I can still keep it pretty quiet if I don't push it too hard.

Link goes to muffler #11185 (no listing for this #), is this correct or did you mean 11385?
Any pics of the underside? Interested with how low the can sits, the OP install did hang down some. TIA

It fits great. It's a lot smaller than the OP's, so there isn't much overhang at all. I think #11385 is correct.

It has two 2.25" pipes from pretty much front to back

DeutschRennfahrer, do you think it would've been possible to mount the magnaflow exhaust where the OEM can was?

How has your rear bumper held up with these new tips? Any melting or discoloring?

Thanks! When you have a moment, can you measure how wide your tips are from one end to another? A

I'm wondering if a set of dual 3" tips will fit (probably 1/2" space in between the tips) will fit nicely in the cutout without getting too close to the bumper itself.

This thread is still relevant, though old.
Did the setup stay free of CE codes long term?
What's the pipe diameter into and out of the muffler?
Why not run a 3" pipe outlet instead of two separate pipes?

Any reason not to do this to an M? It certainly doesn't need two mufflers back there.
Asking because I just bought an MZ4 and want to drop the boat anchor exhaust before doing other tuning.
