Diagnostic challenge of the day.......
ok this is my best attempt at clearly explaining all the BS that has been going on with my M lately...I made a video.
In the video I start off showing the difficulty im having bringin the engine to part throttle and then you might have to skip the middle because My contrast was a little off... but this is the best way to explain it. I honestly hope this NEVER happens to anyone here...seriously. It doesnt matter where you go to get it fixed, mechanics will typicially find a way to write up 10 hours plus for something that could fixed within a fraction of that time. well here it is... |

OK... I'll bite again I'm in no way qualified to diagnose the car, but just a guess. Maybe a TPS problem. I know you don't want to go to the dealer for a lot of good reasons. If it were me, and remember I'm a cheap ass pilot....I would take it to the dealer and get this headache resolved before anything bad happens and to put your mind at ease. Assuming it repeats the problem the same way every time with foot pedal position and being the same without load or under load makes me think the TPS. if it were fuel filter or pump or injectors I would think it would vary and would be different with different loads. Can you hold a steady high rpm as long as you like? My jelly bean in the jar count guess to win is TPS. I think you should take it to the doctor though. Cheers

Whoa!!! Wish I would have looked at this earlier. I had the same exact issue now that i put some thought to it back on my old M3.
If you wanna be on the cheap about it, pick up one coil and just keep swapping until you find the bad one. I am pretty confident this is what happening as I ran into the exact same issue.

Good to hear that you got it sorted.
What kind of mileage do you have on it?

Damn bro, how many miles were on her when you bought it? Any plans on getting the Inspection 2 done? I'd be most concerned about the valves not being in spec. You can do the other stuff such as differential and transmission fluid pretty easily if you have 4 jack stands and a low profile jack.

its clear to me that bmw service is garbage and they need to have someone constantly watching over their shoulders.....
I mean even though they came to my rescue and gave me 40 hours worth of dealer service time this was only spent fixing the airbag light and bmw assist...I have the whole write up some where with pics of the print outs.... almost every dealership is garbage... the cars however are awesome..... |
