UPDATE: Importing a vehicle at Lewiston, NY
Hi all,
It seems like things have changed at the US Vehicle Export office, at least in Lewiston, NY anyway. The dealer I bought the car from in PA emailed the title, bill of sale, and export worksheet as noted on a few websites and based on info here but they kicked it back to him saying all that they need is the vehicle description, make, model, and VIN. No attachments are allowed. I questioned this and called the number for vehicle exports in Buffalo myself and the recorded message says exactly this. Way easier! Mike |

They do want to see the title and bill of sale, but the originals and in person when you deliver them the car. You picking it up this weekend? All the best!! Hope it is a smooth transaction.

Yup, fly down to Philly Sunday night, leave around noon Monday and drive half way home (stop to visit an old friend) then find some nice twistys in northern PA through the mountains on the way to the border tuesday.

Make sure you don't forget to stop at the US border to check the car out....did that with my Z3MC.
Also, make sure the dealer gives you the ownership....they gave me 25 pieces of paper but...shame on me...the title was missing. Had to park the car at the casino over the weekend till the dealer fedex'ed the title.... did that with my Z4MC. Good luck. |

Wow, things move fast sometimes. I crossed through the border by 11am, home by 1pm, docs emailed to RIV by 2pm, reply from them by 3pm that all is approved and I had my inspection form, in to CTC at 4pm for the inspection. All I need now is the safety and etest (tomorrow) and then off to the MTO tomorrow or friday for title, etc. Much faster than I thought!
BTW, here are the only two pics I have of her so far. Taken on my way home from PA in the Allegany Mountains. |
