I'm not even quite sure how to title this for another thread....plus it will remove purchasing activity away from OP's thread. Duh, maybe he'd approve

I will just say, there is so many details not covered in this tutorial and so many techniques that would improve their performance. This is a VERY basic Infusion process they show.

You would not want your doors to be done this particular way for more reasons than JUST safety.

Don't worry Villa, I have 20 years of Infusion/CF experience and panel construction under my belt. I promise to do it right.

For God's sake they didn't even Post cure in an oven or use rolled edging on their mold design.-(which ends up with raw cut edges instead of a factory rolled edge).
Very fundamental to get this right.

Sheet metal >Carbon/Kevlar is normally a 2/3rds reduction in weight.

If I go to the trouble of making molds for the race-glass as in Acrylic...then even more weight can be dropped.

Trade steel window regulators for aluminum or Carbon etc, etc.

But if only the door metal is CF, then that would be the only weight loss area.

For example.....lets say the stripped doors -(sheet-metal shell) weighed in at 36lbs. The mirror image part should come in near 9lbs ea.

If added bulkers such as core-mat or Honeycomb is added or even crash/impact bars made from CF/Kevlar...your only adding a few more lbs.

If it were only so easy, lol. While a 54 lb reduction in weight is nothing to laugh at....I believe you'd have to use my CF hatch w/race-glass,CF hood, CF roof and these CF doors to start making that big of a noticeable HP gain or perceived feel.

But you'd surely feel it in corner entry/exit speeds and center of gravity feel !

IMO it wouldn't be worth doing if only for the door skin.
I'd love to have more elbow room by getting rid of the interior door card altogether

You or I could cut out any area of the inner skin with a carbide blade to allow for pockets or space. Such as knee room etc. Main thing is to allow room for glass travel and door actuators.

The group buy-in for the doors didn't fare so well, so I think Villa is attempting a deal to secure them at least. I'll have to compensate him as this develops.

I will feel sooo much better once all my tooling is built and parts are being distributed to everyone and I get to see them installed in pix !!
