I have the Hankook V12s, They are great for the price and they stick, but IMO the sidewall just isn't stiff enough. I had to actually grow to "trust" them as they are definitely softer than the OEM's they replaced. But now that I know the limits, I push them hard and they do what they are supposed to. Next time, I will try another brand that has a stiffer sidewall

Well I like the tires and I am disappointed in myself at the same time. I believe I screwed up the size. Not that its not livable until I need a new set, but I raised my car up about 1 inch. I did not want to increase the ride height, just get the right width.
The tires do ride very good, and they handled the Dragon and other twisty road just great. So overall I am very pleased. Regards

I'm still lovin' the RS-3 245/40/18 on 18*9.5 wheels. Looking at the contact patch, much better initial contact with the fronts & rears than a previous (245/40/18) 18*8 wheel AND a 265/35/18 on a 18*9 wheel. I have a rear 15mm spacer coming, hope to have Friday evening, if so, I'll upload pics of the stance.
Had many positive comments on the wheels/stance/etc at the shop and at work. |

Yokohama AD-08... best performance tire on the market if dry grip is your biggest factor. I have tried EVERY high performance tire on the market besides the new pilot SS and the AD-08 is the best IMHO.

Well wonders never cease, Wife and I took a ride last night and we were commenting on the cornering performance and she even commented that these did not seem to be grippy as the continentals around the corners. Shocked me. But after she said that she advised she did like these for the ride factor, they are softer side walls and the bumps have certainly leveled out. Brought up the idea of a road trip to the Keys!

I'm looking for some extreme summer performance tires to replace my Goodyear run-flats. I don't see many options on the Tire Rack site. Potenza RE 71 and Advan AD 08R. Any other options out there? Can we safely change the tire size up or down to increase our selection? How about any tiers the Tire Rack doesn't sell? The intended use is primarily Autocross used and Sunny Sunday Driving, not a daily driver RE-11's have a 225/45 that has a 25.9 diameter. The 265/40 has a diameter of 26.3". Is this an acceptable discrepancy in diameter from front to rear? Last edited by Bossdog; 08-01-2015 at 10:45 AM.. |

How did you end up with rain flats on an M?
235/40 fr and 265/35 rr is one of the most common sizes used on OE wheels. And openes up several other choices.

I've been running the ZII for street/ track ( not auto-x), and like them a lot.
ZII star specs are also now available. Star specs have long been an auto-x favorite with excellent grip and they come up to temp very quickly. I'm sure auto-x fans will have more opinions to offer.

I have the RS3's in 255/275 non-OEM wheels. I can't speak for autox, but they grip very well (even in 1st gear) on a supercharged car. They wear quickly and are extremely temperature dependent. If it's cool out, they grip worse than PSS.

I don't do a lot of autox but the new re71r is getting a lot of good reviews around here. You can get them in 235/40 and 265/35. The ZIIs are pretty common for autox too.

I've been reading reviews in the RE-71, awesome performance but don't last very long. A common trade-off for super sticky tires.
