Post VF-Engineering Z4M Supercharger Kit - INSANE PRICING: Save up to $1,800!

Ends: 8/24/12

VF Engineering has drastically changed the Z4M VF 480kit pricing so now is the time to buy. Seriously.

NOTE: At this point, the calibrations for the 420 and 570 kits are not complete, so ONLY the 480 kit is available. Expect 420 and 570 kits in a few months.

VF480 Stage 1 (water-cooled) = $̶8̶9̶0̶0̶ $7945 sale price: $7150

[B] VF480 Stage 1
With the only Air-to-water cooled superchargers available in the market VF has taken the Z4M to supercar level performance with the VF480 Stage 1 kit. Whether battling through daily traffic, on the street, or on the track, the VF480 and VF570 provide the high HP consistently and continuously no matter how hard you drive your car. Now included with our updated tune, you won't even remember you're supercharged until you feel the urge and put your foot down.

VF480 Sale price: $7150 ($1750 Savings!)
480 hp / 340 ft/lbs
5.5-6.0 PSI
V3-SQ supercharger
Cast manifold with slide-in air/water cooled cartridge
ECU software flash

__________________________________________________ _________
All key components are 100% made in California. Supporting components such as flow matched injectors, radiators and water pumps are all acquired from German OEMs. This system has been fully road tested and dyno tuned on both the Mustang MD500AWD and in-house Dynojet 224XLC dynamometers with and without engine load. All stage 1 kits are setup at 6 psi and create as much, if not more, power than similar products running greater levels of boost.

VF engineers spent over 12 months software testing the BMW Bosch and Siemens ECUs and resolved stalling and MAF issues faced by other supercharger systems. Software flash technology and latest BMW file versions have all been employed to provide the cleanest and the most reliable method of software installation. Testing the software included extensive road and dyno test cycles, with acceleration and deceleration tests for drivability smoothness and ECU fuel management. All test cars were put through long term full throttle testing in conditions varying from wet cold climates to hot dry Arizona desert temperature for safe-optimal air fuel ratios and knock activity monitoring. Competently written ECU software has allowed VF to fully explore the potential of the BMW engine, making over 40% more power in most applications.

VF chooses the Vortech supercharger, mounting it with an in-house CNC machined aluminum bracket system. The unit is positioned in line with the original serpentine belt which is replaced with a longer OEM belt. The key to this design is that the OEM active-spring belt tensioner remains fully functional and eliminates belt slip or the need to manually tension the belt. The supercharger air ducts are custom molded in-house from plastic to give an OEM appearance, quality and fit. The incorporated Bosch boost overrun system is designed for smooth off-throttle cruising and deceleration with clean emissions. The crankcase ventilation system is designed to cope with positive pressure and high flow OEM injectors are supplied to fit as direct replacements without modification to the injector rail. A removable plastic air box is provided with the K&N induction filter for those who use their vehicles in persistently wet climates.

Some facts about the VF kit versus the competition:
  1. The Vortech supercharger is a much larger unit and therefore has a superior flow rate over the competition.
  2. The Vortech unit [centrifugal] runs at approximately half the impeller speed when compared to a typical planetary unit at like-for-like boost levels.
  3. The Vortech unit is capable of creating up to 20psi [application dependent] and therefore has greater potential for higher power levels.
  4. The self-contained Vortech unit does not need its own separate oil cooling system with reservoir and extra radiator.
  5. Vortech units have been on the market for over 15 years in the US, many many times longer than the competition.
  6. VF's air/water cooling system is far superior to any air/air intercooler which is why VF makes 460whp on 91 octane without water/meth injection.
  7. VF's Stage2 makes the same power as the competitor kit but with less boost and less octane. VF only needs 8psi and 91 octane.
The VF supercharger system remains fully OBD2 compliant and is supported by a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty (on the kit only). Installation can be performed by most competent technicians in a true 12-16 hours and is non-intrusive, allowing it to be fully reversible. Drag racing and aggressive back to back peak rpm shifting with the higher stage levels will likely require a clutch upgrade. 100 octane fuel recommended when used on the race track. A pre-cat wideband air/fuel ratio monitoring gauge is recommended.

VF480 Supercharger System, aftercooled
Setup for 5.5-6.0 psi, V3-SC trim supercharger along with VF's air/water cooled cartridge (aftercooler) inside their cast intake manifold. A High flow fuel system with VF Stage 1 injectors and custom ECU flash. Once again, an easy upgrade to stage VF580 is available.
Expect power in the 400whp range on 91 octane (AKI) pump gas

(note, this kit uses the new BLACK blower)

VF came to market with this recently. We have installed a few of these kits on the E46M3 and they are just awesome.

When VF first released this kit (6+ years ago?) to the M3 crowd there were a few challenges with tuning (as GIAC was their tuning partner). They adapted and brought tuning in house - the result is a dead reliable tune which delivers smooth strong power - no drama.

Very cool! How many Z4Ms have this installed already? Have there been long-term tests with these specific tunes? I'm assuming the major hardware is the same as E46 M3s, but tune is definitely different and has been the bottleneck for most FI systems available out there.

Let me know if they want to sponsor a ride. I track my car quite a bit and would be quite a suitable guinea pig. Please PM me if there's any opportunity available as I'm seriously interested in an intercooled kit

3 or 4 cars have the kit running right now. No long terms tests, as the kit is still very new. I just double checked with VF and they are very confident in this tune. I personally haven't driven one yet, just the E46M which is flawless

3 or 4 Z4M's? I'm interested as well, but would need to see some more evidence of it running on our cars (not e46). Happy to have options from u guys!

In the same boat ... I am seriously interested in the VF420 as the price is right but haven't heard too much about this for the Z4M. Any dyno graphs or actually pictures/videos of it installed on a Z4M?

Have you had any experience with installing any of these kits on higher mileage M3's (100k miles)? Does it require any aftermarket tunes to be removed prior to install?

Yes, I can think of 2 that went on 100k+ mile VAC client cars. The 1 dude ran a 570 kit on a 130k mile 2001 - it's still holding together

This is absolutely awesome to see, a kit thats actually affordable, i'll be waiting myself a month or two to hear about initial-installed z4m's and how they are holding up, if all looks good from them; consider a kit sold

In the second picture above, on the far left, what is the big trapezoidal shaped piece, and where does it go?

It's the water reservoir for the air/water cooled systems. I think it mounts under the engine.
