BimmerBrakes SS Headers on E85!

I finally bit the bullet and just bought me a set of BimmerBrakes SS Headers!

I'm buying a new set of OEM gaskets since I heard the ones that come with headers are not that great. I also got some heat wrap and two sets of spark plug non-foulers for the post cat o2 sensors. Do you guys suggest getting anything else for the install? I'm trying to avoid SES lights, hence the non-foulers. Should I consider another route? Any help will be appreciated!

I agree on the gaskets that are supplied are not good. Good call on the oem ones.
You will need bolts for the collectors to s-pipe connection and of course gaskets there also.
Put a dab of hi heat silicone on the collector gaskets as I developed a slight leak there even with impacting the nuts.

Chances are you will end up threading the studs out of the head with the frozen on nuts even though the nuts are copper.
I ended up replacing all the nuts and chasing the threads on the studs once the frozen nuts were removed.

Finally, do not overtighten the nuts on reassembly. The recommended torque is around 10-12 ft/lbs I believe.

Thank you! Could you help me out with something. I'm having really a hard time finding these OEM parts online. Could you help me find the part numbers please

Found it.

This list is overkill, but if you wanted to do everything, this is most of it.

- 18 manifold studs Part #: 07129900298
- 18 manifold nuts Part #: 11721437202
- 6 Header gaskets Part #: 11627830667
- 4 Header to exhaust bolts Part #: 11621318568
- 4 Header to exhaust nuts Part #: 18301317898
- 2 Header to exhaust gaskets Part #: 11627830668
- Air valve control gasket Part #: 11727505259
- 8 Front axle reinforcement plate hexagon screw Part #: 31106772199

I did not use all these components, but it's on the safe side to have everything if you care to.

Don't think you need guidance especially if you DIY

Items 3, 6 and 4 is what I would have on hand.

Oh my bad! I didn't realize. I also made a silly assumption that most of these parts would be similar. I'm still not super keen on the differences on these models.

Are these the right gaskets? With a heat shield?

Yes,
I drilled out the rivets, installed gaskets and headers, tightened all the nuts then pressed the shields back into the dimples.

You're awesome. Thanks for the picture! You didn't cost or wrap your headers? How's the temperature under the hood?

I would consider getting them ceramic coated. Only $250 in my area.
The wrap will add unwanted diameter to the tubes that will shroud the studs and make torqueing difficult. IMO.
There are already 2 nuts that you can't get a ratchet on as it is.

Love this thread. Bought the same headers...worried about the Engine light...gonna try without spacers first (since the after cat O2 has a raised section).

Let me know how yours goes! I'll post when mine is done over the next few weeks.

if you are running catless the gas smell when waiting at stop ligts will not be nice.
I doubt the defoulers will work but worth a try.
I have gone to Magnaflow cats on mine after 3 different configurations.

I ordered some cat simulators from ****** (different from O2 simulators). They wire inline with O2 sensor and adjust the output signal. I'll let you know how they work once I get them put in.

Ran catless on my Jetta. Didn't mind the smell to much for the sound and performance gain. But that was a turbo car so it'll be a different case. I'll run catless and go from there.
