I mean I hardly get to see my own child just so I can work, that's pretty bothersome and there's nothing I can do about it.
I understand this fully.

I was a VP at an national company (a real VP with a real division of 1200 employees...not a bank VP running a branch. No disrespect intended, just setting the scale). I worked 80 hrs per week and on several occasions had breakfast in FL, lunch in Dallas or Houston and Dinner in California. I was being groomed to be a CEO and BOOM, my daughter was born.

The first time I held her I knew that what I was doing would not work and within 6 weeks took a buy-out, resigned, and moved back to Louisiana. After a time off I took a jobs in the financial services, first then pharma, always as an individual contributor. This allowed me to drop off and pick up my daughter at school until she was 10 years old. The best decision I ever made. After that back into management and into the fast lane again.

I wouldn't trade those 10 years for all of the money in the world. She remembers that I was at nearly every big event she participated in and on the previous path there is no way that would have occurred.

Keeping this thread on topic is an effort! Ok, I have to go through some old photo boxes to find me jumping with a horse, or chasing cattle. Nobody at the stables knows my riding history, so it's not easy getting a loaner horse. I will be soon taking up vaulting with my daughter's coach, and I'll get photos then. At the moment its easier to try and steal my daughter's horse while no-one is looking... I'll get my 6 year old son to take the photo.

Yeah I get it, but I just had no idea you could lease one like a car.

This is Star...a friend of mine bought her in New Zealand and had her flown back to her place over by upper Newport Bay.
You can lease Horses....

IMO and experience, someone will buy a horse and then park it at a barn....never make time to ride, etc....barn will offer lease programs to people that make time to ride and care for the horse but can make a long term commitment to own.

FWIW - Horse ownership is a bad investment as far a animals are concerned.

It's about 800 pounds dressed out and at $5.99/pound, that's not a bad residual

The cost of a horse for any other reason than a pasture animal, is exponentially greater than a dog, or a cat, or any other pasture animal.

Why? I made this statement because it's TRUE!!

People should not own animals they cannot keep and care for on their OWN property....

Do you keep your Cayman in a rented garage..?

Do you pay someone to put gas in the car, or what about drive it for you??
