Mount and Balance (not gymnastics related)
I finally wore through my RFTs and ordered some General UHPs despite what I have said I was going to do in previous threads.
I called the BMW stealership and they quoted me ~$120 to mount and balance all 4 tires, is this about right? I guess I have never switched out all my tires before, just rotated them on my previous vehicle.

RIP... Off...
You can find private tire shops or even Costco or Walmart that would do it for $10 per corner. And I thought the topic was sex related. Very disappointed.

Yeah, well I am nervous about having an independent shop messing with the TPMS... then again I don't know how complicated those systems are. Anyone on here had any experience they would like to share?
C'mon people... I post one car related topic and it's dead edit: I guess it is only 30 minutes after I posted it and during the working hours.

Sorry this is not my area of expertise, and for all I know I maybe way off on this topic. But it's so rare that I post in threads actually related to our babies, I thought what heck I'll post anyway! |

A place like Discount Tire shouldn't have a problem dealing with the TPMS, and $10-25 per wheel is probably the norm.

Funny you should ask... The going rate here is about $20/wheel. Yesterday, I took my Z to a local "Motorsports" shop recommended by Tirerack.com to have a set of Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs mounted. They spent about an hour trying to get the RFTs off of the rims and then told me that their machine needed a new part in order to do the RFTs. The part had been ordered next day ir and should have been here today. So today I went back and the part had not arrived, but they said they could take the wheels off and take them to another tire shop to get the tires off of the rims. Another hour and a half goes by. They pulled my car out and as I was preparing to pay, they told me that they couldn't get the tires off of the rims and oh by the way they trashed one of my rims. They *assured* me that they would fix the rim and get the part in on Mon or Tues to mount my tires. MORAL OF STORY: $120 for all four wheels sounds pretty good to me if they know what they are doing...

They are like 30-35$ a tire here in SoCal. That's at the big name places, Discount Tire, Express Tire, etc. And they almost all ways fuck up wheels, sad...

Here is what I do, find an installer on Tire Rack that lists equipment and make sure they have a Hunter machine capable of Roadforce balancing, this will give the best results. The machines that do the roadforce balancing are newer and probably more expensive, so most likely the shop is pretty decent.
