So how do you install these things? Do they just glue over the existing housing?

Actually, the Tekarbon mirrors I got were full replacements. In fact, he used OEM BMW housings so they fit perfectly.

Tekarbon are wet wraps on OE shells they are a complete replacement.

These ebay units are just snap on covers.

Most of the ones I've seen on eBay come with with 3M mounting tape already applied to the interior of the shells, doesn't say on the ad if these do or not, but if not, some good, thin 3M double sided mounting tape from the auto parts store should do the trick.

I considered getting these because of the significant cost difference between these and Tekarbon, but I just can't deal with how these would cut off right at the edge of the mirror, leaving the back painted side exposed and a raw cutoff line where the two areas meet. They do look like decent quality pieces, though.

Sorry, that's what I meant guys by wrap ....... They are wet wraps on OE shells, not solid carbon, so no weight reduction, just bling. I have them on my car.

They fit exactly like the factory mirrors. The shell is an OEM shell that is covered in real CF, therefore the fit is the same, only the look is different. Quality wise, one of my mirrors is good, one has flaws under the clear. Tekarbon has a 7 day return policy. I was busy at work when mine arrived, and I didn't install them until the weekend, at night in my garage. I didn't notice the passenger side mirror flaws until a few weeks had passed and the car was parked in direct sunlight. Tekarbon would not swap it out for me, they offered to have me take it off and mail if back to them, and they would sand it and reclear. This would involve me taking off the mirror and replacing the original mirror to drive the car, then take that off when the mirror came back and reinstalling the refinished mirror. This was a lot of work to me. If you've removed and replaced these mirrors, it's not a 10 minute job, at least not the first time. I offered to just buy a single mirror, and then ship the blemished mirror back for refund, they declined. Personally, if they were going to refinish it to new, I didn't see the difference, other than saving me the time of installing the old mirror in the interim. The moral of this story: If you buy from them, make sure you inspect the mirrors very well and if you are unhappy with any blemishes, contact them and arrange to return the blem immediately. The warranty is one week.

One thing that I don't like on the tekarbon is that it doesn't completely wrapped around the mirror opening. You can still see the OE plastic housing right at where the mirror meets the housing. This ebay listing doesn't show that area either

Did yours not wrap around into the cover like in Tekarbon's picture?

After speaking with Eric at Tekarbon regarding this, he stated that they changed how they wrap the mirrors so that the wrap goes inside the visible lip/opening of the mirror cover, that way you won't see plain plastic even after adjusting the mirror.

My set from Tekarbon will be arriving today, and I plan on installing them today, as well. I'll be taking a copious amount of pictures and will post them when complete.

There are a few others on here that have already posted some pictures, though. Takes some digging, but if you search the General Forum as well as the Cosmetics forum for "carbon mirror" you should be able to find a few threads with the pics in them.

Okay, I started a new thread with the pics in it so as to not take this one off topic from the OP.
