Interior trim

The one thing I find that I don't care for is the interior trim. Actually it is the wood trim. I would much rather the carbon fiber. I find that the wood trim is too glossy and that it often reflect the sun into my eyes. What would take to swap them out?

trims sometimes come up for sale here or on ebay. (rare)
The alternative is to remove your trims & have them covered/refinished.

Yes the trim is not cheap part #51168040668. Is the wood trim plastic or real?

I have the madeira wood as well. Im thinking about lightly sanding it and spraying on a satin clear over top to eliminate the gloss. I think it would look KILLER.

I am pretty sure it is real wood.

It's real wood. My suggestion would be to post here (which you've already done) and all the other Z4 forum sites (easily located with Google) an offer to swap your wood trim for the carbon leather trim. Chances are, you'll find a trading partner eventually, if not right away.

I have the bmw carbon leather trim if you want it. The center console piece is pretty beat up but I will let all 3 pieces go for $320.00 shipped.

Its pretty shameless of me to even offer but I have done a lot of interior refinishing esp with the carbon fiber trim,

If you can get your stock trim to me I can recover it and it would look almost identical to the one BMW puts in the M's
Would be much cheaper than buying new trim,
I did my door handles and it matches so well anyone that's ever seen it thought it came that way including people at BMW,

Now that is a nice offer. Much easier than waiting around for OEM CF trim to show up for a reasonable price.

There's someone selling real CF trim in the classifieds section. Not sure if you might be interested in that.

Has anyone heard of a source of where to find carbon leather, to repair interior trim?

It's just embossed leather. If you find someone that works with leather they could probably match the pattern, example here (scroll down to textured leathers).

Check out Car ID, they have an interior/dash kit for Z4s, pics look good. I have never bought any BMW stuff from them but I have bought accessories for my 5th Gen Camaro and was happy with the product. http://www.carid.com/2006-bmw-z4-accessories/
